What are you up to today? This week?

What an awful day, my solo trip didn't happen due to some good old family drama, and I am done having birthdays, it will be better that way. No more let downs or disappointment. And I'm now convinced I was switched at birth.

I am sorry this happened to you. Really sorry. Please, figure out how to make yourself feel better somehow.

I quit birthdays years ago. Same kind of reasons. Now, I just buy myself stuff in advance and go from there :) I am sooooo sorry you joined this un-club. If you think hard enough, I'm sure you'll think of a way to rebel against it all :)

Hugs sent your way!

My screen/page probably looks a bit different than yours, in that I use a Mac, not a PC. The "Post" button appears just below the text window that I typed into (on the right-hand side), and not any further down on the page. My browser page here doesn't have a "Back to the Top" button.

Sandy, my page looks much like yours. The "back to the top" button is centered below the text window. On my screen, it is merely a shadow until I move my cursor over it, when it turns bright red. I have no idea why it should be so camouflaged, but it is what it is.

Well the project that had the crown in it got done at 3:30 AM.

From 1:30 - 3:00 I hand sewed sequins and tiny silver lined crystal beads to create sparkles in the "sky" so to speak. Each sparkle has 2 silver sequins and 3 beads to each group. I hope I can have a nap this afternoon !! Of course, my entire house looks like it threw up a craft store and we are wading through thread clippings and fabric scraps and beads and bling gems and glues and all manner of stuff.

Now I'm ready to go present it. Wish me luck please.

The crowns looked like quite the bling thing.

I'm doing a happy dancde because DH began moving into the workshop yesterday afternoon and between laundry loads and dodging raindrops today I'm going to help do more of the same! I can't wait to get out there and assess the damage to Mildred and to see what supplies will need replacing.

Stacey, I'm sorry your day didn't go as planned. Family trauma/drama is one of the reasons I kept having birthdays and gave up families instead.

Selkie, your church group is going to be thrilled with your hard work! It sounds like you've gone above and beyond to create gorgeous costumes and settings for them. Bless you for being such a sweetheart that way. Speaking as a former preacher's kid, I can tell you sincerely that it means a lot more than you realize when people like you step up and lend a hand. My dad would have been thrilled to have you in his congregation.

Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! That's awesome news! You'll have it set up in no time flat. I've had to keep a list on the studio table so I can keep adding to the supplies that couldn't be moved and have to be replaced. It was hard on my thrifty nature to leave behind things like paint and glue but it wasn't worth the risk of moving them. I keep reaching for things and then realize that the dumpster got them so I add it onto the list and just smile about it being worth it to have the new space. I'm soooooooooo happy for you! This workshop is something that you've deserved for ages Holly and it truly lifts my heart to think of you puttering around contentedly in it..

Today is the beginning of Bruce's weekend so we have some errands to run, groceries to get, and then yard work planned ahead for the day. I like doing as much of the yard work as I can but things like running the weedeater, trimming bushes, or bending over to scoop up leaves are beyond me so Bruce and I work together at it. However, I woke up feeling less than okay today so I'm not sure how much I'll do after errands and groceries. We have a fun trip planned to Casa Grande tomorrow for a little shopping and exploring (three stores, lunch, and a museum which is a big day for me!) so I can either do yard work today or rest up and have a good time tomorrow.

Keeping the list for supplies needing replacing is a terrific idea! that I hadn't thought of, but what a step-saver that will be. Thanks for that. And I am also looking forward to that puttering.

DH jusst hauled me out the front door during a lull in the rain to see that my little native azalea is bursting with buds that are opening almost fast enough to watch. Last year's late cold bit all the flower buds, so we didn't get any blueberries, and of course the azalea didn't bloom, either. The flowers don't last long, but they have the most gloriously lovely fragrance while they do.

This sounds like something I'd enjoy but... do you find it hard on your fingers?

Sandy, it was not at all hard on my fingers - less stressful to the hands (and brain, for me anyway) than cross stitch. And this may be more info than you wanted to know, but I've just been diagnosed with mild arthritis in my right hand and have a cyst on the joint of my right thumb (looking forward to my appt with a hand specialist at the end of May).

The family and I barbequed at a nearby park yesterday afternoon. It was my first time cooking on an open grill instead of one with a lid, but the steaks, mussels and everything else turned out good.

Work is also going better. It turned out that I not only had to learn a number of new software programs at a time when work was unusually heavy, but I had to catch up on all the projects the person I replaced let slip through the cracks. Now that I'm almost caught up, I don't feel overwhelmed. My DW is also feeling better since we hired a part-time nanny for the kids. She gets to actually sleep during the day so she isn't exhausted at work in the evenings. It also allows her to study for the RN boards without constant disruptions.

I still haven't gotten to work on the Tudor house yet, but I hope to change that within a few weeks.

Jeremy, it's delightful to hear that things are starting to go your way! I'm thrilled to hear that the new job is settling down and is beginning to feel comfortable to you. Your wife is probably a very happy lady to get the extra help so she can focus on the RN boards..........those are a real brainbuster from what I've heard. I'm doing a little happy dance for you because it's so good to hear that life is going in the right direction for you.

Sandy, I'm opening myself for embarrassment here, but are you sure you actually posted the posts that you think haven't been counted? I've caught myself typing a post and then clicking on the little red button at the bottom of the screen that sends me back to the top of the frame instead of clicking on the black Post button. Sometime later I'll realize my post never showed up. Doh.

Been there; done that!

Last night I went to a Southside Johnny concert at the State Theatre in New Brunswick. I am wondering how many of you outside NJ ever heard of him, as like Bruce Springsteen, his cult followings originated in this area; although unlike Springsteen, his popularity never rose that high, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why.

Going to a concert to see a performer I really like is on par to a miniature show for me, although the miniature shows unfortunately are far and few in between, and at this stage of my life take priority over other events I would like to attend. The exception would be for a few performers only, Southside Johnny being one of them. So thank God this concert wasn't on the same day as the Karen Aaird 4th Annual Spring Dollhouse/Miniature Show that is exactly two weeks from today.

One nice thing about minature shows is that they seem to attract various people from all age groups, whereas with concerts, the audience seems to age with the performer. I was right at home with the crowd last night, and I feel right at home with all of you too.

Thanks for all the encouragement and support. I really appreciate it. Everything went well except the digital photo part I was supposed to do. I messed that up. I spent some time right afterwards getting that fixed so it will be ready for the next session.

Well I just had my little nap and now it's on to the clean up process. I have clothesbaskets filled with supplies ready to be put away.

My oldest son is visiting and I'm going to try to bribe him into carry the big fabric tubs back up to the attic for me along with bringing my sewing machine and ironing board back to my sewing room. I had moved everything downstairs to have more room to spread out, thus the chaos.

Tomorrow, after a much need MD visit, I need to attack the regular chores, like laundry, which I've let pile up while I've been working on all this. I love doing it, it just always gets out of control and I get overwhelmed - but I wouldn't think of saying no.

Today I finally made it to Hobby Lobby, but half way there I realized I was wearing my computer glasses, and not my regular glasses, so I didn't feel like looking around for much once I was there. Still, I found the dollhouse section and bought daffodils for the side of my house, as well as a watering pail, a hoe, and garden clippers.

Then I went looking for little flowers to put in my flower box, but surprisingly the store didn't have any of those small packaged flowers that are often found with ribbon and items to make wedding favors - or at least no one could locate them. So I bought three stems of artificial roses that hopefully will look good once I cut the stems and arrange them in the box. If it doesn't work out, I can always go to Michaels later this week.

Federal taxes are done,

So I sure won't be late;

But I will not file

Until I am done with the state.

It's time to leave this lovely site because I will be spending the rest of the day on my state taxes. Then off they go for another year.

After pillaging Lowe's plant department and coming home with a trunk full of green, leafy things, I planned on spending all day yesterday in the backyard contentedly planting things and I did manage to get three planters done before I started getting dizzy. I made it up to bed before my muscles stopped working and then passed out for 5 hours. This isn't a rare occurrence but it is one that I dread because it means that my body has reached the level of exhaustion where it simply shuts down and then I usually have to deal with an hour or so of sleep paralysis when I wake up. Yucky stuff and I'd MUCH rather be outside planting flowers. This morning I've had a pep talk with the body and decided that probably won't work so I'm just going to head out to the patio and see how much I can get done before I get tired. There are days when I let my desire to accomplish things drag my body along behind it and today is one of them. I believe in mind over matter...........if I don't mind then it doesn't matter.

Deb (off to show her body who's the boss around here) :spar:

You go Deb!! I need to get busy on my basement. I finally got all my new shelves hauled down there, now I just need to assemble them and pile crap on. I want to have all that done so I can play outside all summer in the fairy village.

Deana, it's so good to see you online again. Your fairy village project was the beginning of me purchasing some of the parts I have.

I have G scale trains. This was originally supposed to be all trains as I have 9 of them, but so many of these mini houses came out that they outgrew the other area they were in across the walk. So I had to compromise with 1 train around the outside. The houses are all 1/12 scale but the trains are 1/24. I think it will be fine.
