Hallowell
I decided to try and make my own chandeliers, they are pricey to buy and now that I've made one I can see why. It's a little sloppy and awkward but I can't wait to make more and get better at it. I won't use a black stamping and I'll try to use all Swarovski crystals ( the better crystals do make a huge difference in appearance. This one isn't electrified but I'll try on my upcoming chandeliers. Here's the link if you want to see it. http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/i...q=sc&cat=

chattycathy66
I think it's a great start!! Can't wait to see more  I'd love to learn to make some too one day...they do get a little pricey!!
spike
Good Job! What did you use to hang the crystals from? I like the colors, or is that just reflected light?
Hallowell
The crystals hang from a piece of decorative metal called a stamp used for making jewelry. I used clear swarovski crystals and they pick up colors beautifully.
parisbabe
love it!!!!! Time to spill the beans.....how did you do it

Lynette Smith
It looks lovely! I've considered doing one myself and have some crystals purchased at a gem show especially for the purpose. I'll use some less expensive ones to practice on. Now I may have to break out the beads!
Alamom
You did a lovely job! So pretty!
Jo Med
Great job and thanks for the link. I really want to try one of these.
Sherry
If it had a gold stamp, it would look like one you bought. Very nice work!
sparklepuppies
Very Very pretty! I'm hoping that if I see enough that other people have made, I'll finally have that Aha! moment so I can make my own. I love the crystals. I can't ever seem to find the right size. But I know they're out there, I'll find them one day!
Starfire
It is quite lovely. I am envious because that is one item I would like to try my hand at but will have to wait until eye is better.

havanaholly
Greg, honey, please don't fuss at me, your chandelier is just too gorgeous not to share! I think painting the stamp to match the little "S" hooks is a good idea, it'll actually highlight those exquisite crystals. If the stamp has a small opening in the center, couldn't you thread a gow bulb's wire through?
Hallowell
 Hi Holly I had to drill hole to place the hanging post so I could easily pass wires for a bulb. The house it's going into has old wiring that may not work but I'll test them someday. I so could get addicted to making these chandeliers, it was soooo fun much to make.
Sherr
I think it's quite pretty! But you may be onto something wanting to make the black part gold.. I have always wanted to try making a chandelier. Great work.
justmesue
Great job on the chandelier. I can also picture the black part painted gold. I think it would make it look even richier.
alycemina
I like it alot - it actually looks quite modern, so it could be used in a contemporary house as well. It isnt hard to electrify these - the decision is around multiple lights or just one. Great first try!

Intrinsicat
That is absolutely stunning - and I agree, the way the light hits them definitely makes the piece! I love it... I'll have to contemplate designing one of these for the BH... Hm....
havanaholly
BTW, Greg, where did you find the stamping?
Sherry
Go to thrift stores and look for old 50's style earrings, the round ones that were covered in rhinestones and pearls and had clip backs. They were held together with a fine wire woven into an intricate stamp. They make great pieces for chandeliers because they have so many holes and usually lacy designs. Good way to get extra beads, too.
Hallowell
I got my stamping at AC Moore.
