My project

Here it is...lol..It's really not as impressive as I had hoped it would be...but it;s still nice.

Trust me, I've seen one by Frank Crescente that makes my mouth water. I am incredibly jealous of his skill ( if you know who he is).

Anyway, my project is a roombox version of the Grand Staircase on the Titanic.

It's only my second roombox ever, thus the amatuer work, but I'm pretty proud.

Oddly enough, I couldn't have lighted it without your forum, which is why I joined! I ran across tapewire instructions here through google...so thanks!

Also, soon I'll add a few pics of a roombox I made for my mom.

I have SEVERAL projects in the works:

A library roombox

A crime lab roombox ( or detectives office)

and one yet to be figured out entirely.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Wendy, you're off to an excellent start. If you can find a source of filigree plastic fans, the ribs make lovely inserts for the stairway banisters and I saw some of the really ornate narrow wood trims to embellish the rails and footings and truly intricately carved wooden beads for newel post toppers, as well as the motives that would work as grand foyer ceiling roses, at Michael's recently. You could also coffer the ceiling and this would give you hiding places for the wires.

I love the floor and your stairway design looks wonderful. If you got some of the really ornate edge trim for scrapbooking and a miter-cutter and some lovely scale 18th Century landscape pictures you could prime the boards of the box walls and mount the landscapes one on each board and frame them with the edge trim painted gold. Just a thought, since we're going for ornately elegant; shoot the works and go for rococo!

Wow, I love your stairway!!! I'm a huge fan of the Titanic myself and was always dreaming of building a model of some of it's rooms. Can't wait to see your finished project! :D I have never seen Frank's stairway model before and I have to say it looks just amazing! :D How talented this guy is and what a huge inspiration, thanks for sharing! And keep the pics of your work coming!!! =)

Welcome Wendy! Your Titantic roombox looks like it will be spectacular! Years ago a dollhouse shop in Falls Church (now closed) displayed a really grand Titantic staircase roombox that was eventually written up in one of the mags. Even tho' a number of artisans contributed to the construction of hers, I think yours is going to rival that one for sure. It's going to be awesome. Do keep us posted -- can't wait to see the results :D
