BrookwoodWorker
Here are my stairs after installing the handrail. I took the advice to go with the more sensible design, just for realism.
Monica_the_haunted
I love it, and those floating stairs are purrrrrfect!
Songbird
They are still beautiful - even with the safety features!
Suzy
personally I think they look better without, they are artistic not sensible
avidcrazyquilter
Oh, I like the bannister, that way if I am coming down the stairs in my socks I can hold so I won't slip and slide down the hard way. Coming from experience! Julie
Sherry
Oh, I like them much better now! They really 'feel' like stairs, now that the rail is there.

BrookwoodWorker
Thank you all for the comments. After you look at something for a long time it's hard to see it with fresh eyes, but everyone here is very nice about helping each other with suggestions and comments. Thanks...... pastalinda
I have a real life phobia of floating stairs. I cannot use them without hyperventilating and friends on either side of me to help me up. Be that as it may, I love them in your house. Corwin
It looks much better. Nothing wrong with it before though.

Sherry
You couldn't pay me to climb those stairs without something to hang on to-fear of heights. When we go to Colorado through Wolf Creek Pass, I hide my nose in a book and avoid looking out at that huge drop on my side of the road! When you are level with the tops of 50 ft trees, that's scary! Starfire
It looks wonderful. The whole house looks very...architectural.
lmgervais
House looks wonderful. I agree, floating stairs look better with the banister.
havanaholly
Yes! yes! yes! That is exactly like the floating stairways I've seen & used, with the banisters like that! Oh, very well done!
rodentraiser
I don't really have a fear of heights, but I have an awful fear of falling! I had two curved staircases and thought I'd place them in a house where they were just connected to each other in one 3 story entry - then I found a pic of of that in a real house and am I glad I didn't - I'd be shaking every time I looked at that house. Anyway, I like the way this rail went on - it's there, but very unobstrusive. (how do you spell that word?)
Intrinsicat
I like it with the railing... The whole house is really looking amazing! How did you do the stone flooring? I really love it!
