Lita
This is what I’m doing instead of sleeping... I’m so pleased with how this turned out. I used Word to make repeats of tiles I liked, printed on card stock and glazed with triple thick glaze. Got impatient and glued them on the staircase. I’m debating whether to glaze the dark brown boards or leave them matte. Will probably dry brush them with black before I decide.

KathieB
How beautiful! I don't believe I'd glaze the wooden treads. I like the realistic contrast.
havanaholly
I'm with Kathie; those tiles are even more striking looking if you leave the treads alone. You have enough posts to make albums in the gallery.

Debsrand56
Wow, those are beautiful! And I agree on the contrast. It's just right the way it is.

stickyfingers
Well that is very, very cool! What house is this going into?

Originally i was looking at a general nautical theme in blues and aquas, but now I am playing with making it a Caribbean beach bungalow. I am not sure if the huge craftsman porch posts will work for this and I'm playing with the idea of replacing them with more typical Caribbean posts or at least different rails, like this (but more colorful). I'm afraid the roof may not be as well supported with this change.
havanaholly
I would put a staircase like that in a hacienda.

I have got to get a consistent look for this house so I can move on. I’ll try different stairs and save these for another project. If I start another house, my husband may have to move out to make room.
Sable
I think you’d be fine with those steps in a Caribbean house. The islands are filled with so many cultures, Spanish, Dutch, French, English...I bet I can find a real life Caribbean house that has those steps. Search is on. Sable
Not having much luck but I know in Key West they use assorted tiles. Also, yours could be a cousin of Cuban Tiles, see below. Also, See Robin Carey’s treatment of Key West stairs: https://www.villalagoontile.com/as-cuban-tile.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIt-DF-qPj2wIVVgOGCh0dnQwTEAMYASAAEgIU7vD_BwE http://robincarey.blogspot.com/2011/05/key-west-island-manor-dollhouse.html?m=1 http://robincarey.blogspot.com/2010/09/?m=0
havanaholly
Or, like the enablers we are, we could keep encouraging Lita to build a hacienda next! Lita, keep the hubs and lose the dining room.
