Deb
Deb!!!!!!!! I have been trying to get new blades for my easy cutter. I have the larger one and I can't find the website anywhere. I have Googled it and I always get some tool that isn't my EZ Cutter. I can't figure it out! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Roxy, I think I got the replacement blade for mine at Colpar Hobby in Denver but in the past I've seen them at Michael's too. Mine is the big one as well. <pausing to search> Unfortunately Colpar doesn't have an online shopping experience so I searched for Midwest Products own website (the manufacturer) and found this: http://www.midwesttechnology.com/easy-cutter-replacement-blade-536358-ac1126-r/ I'm not sure if that's the right size for the Ultimate EZ Cutter (the large one) but at least it's a starting point to finding a replacement. If they don't have the right size on the website, maybe you can contact them to find one. This doesn't bode well since the blades used to be available almost everywhere and now the manufacturer is the only source I'm finding. I'm still searching for my screw (I'm starting to suspect the goose ran away with it). Holly, that's the same workbench that Bruce has and he loves it. He has it in the garage where he can put it in the middle of his work space and not be hindered by running into walls when he's working with large pieces of wood. He also has his own pegboard system so this worked out better for him than the one I have. But he's been having problems with the wood top splitting in some places and a few others have said the same altho it's not something that happens with all of them. (I suspect it was how it was manhandled in shipping) I showed him how to use wood glue to fill in the splits and after it cured he gave the top a few coats of poly to seal it. Hopefully that will put a stop to it because he really loves that work bench.
Debra from Olde Cape Cod
Yup, the same as Holly's got.....coming to my house!
havanaholly
Debra, I have had mine nearly 20 years and still using the original blade with it. Deb, my workbench hasn't had any wear issues (other than stains). I have it under the window that faces south so I get outstanding light. When he finally gets motivated DH is going to mount my pegboard on the wall beside the bench between two of the outlets. I framed one of the paintings and started matting another, and trimmed all the newsprint around the attic pieces. I have the interior curved frame for the attic window clamped in place. Instead of a window it will be a louvered ventilated arch. I have a couple of more pictures to play with for Washington and then I need to work on the attic floor and the kitchen bay. Roxxie2
Neither of these look like mine. I might have to start over with a new cutter. My blades are so dull they don't cut shingles even. Mine are the large ones with the blue handle.

I don't know what else to suggest if the manufacturer tells you they don't have the big replacement blades anymore. It's hard to get used to not using it too!!! Debra, when does your most-awesome work bench arrive? We'll have to have a virtual party for it!
L Swearengin
If I could get away from Liberty Falls, I am still plugging away at the Ranch House. I made some bathroom from a kit (don't remember, but believe it was GL/CC anyway they fit nicely in the smaller houses
minilover62
Hi guys, I am finishing my Lafayette Deluxe. I am painting the interior window trims, the exterior corner moldings, trying to figure how to install the staircases, and thinking about a color for the shingles to match the siding (kind of lost here). After these, it will be only baseboards and crown moldings. Yeeeh! I know, I know, you want pictures, I will take some and let you take a pick (I am kind of lazy with the process: take the picture with my cell, transfer to my PC, resize, and then post!) Roxxie2
Thanks Deb. I called that company and they do sell the blades but the representative told me that the blade is $12 and the shipping for one blade is $15!!! I looked around and I can order an entirely new EZ Cutter from Hobby Lobby with a coupon for less than that. The last time I ordered a replacement blade was over 10 years ago so I am due, Ya Think? Something doesn't sound right there. That's an outrageous shipping fee. I've dealt directly with them before and had fabulous service. I had new cutter with a problem and they replaced it free of charge (no shipping) within a couple days.
havanaholly
It's too cold to spend a lot of time in the shop, but I puttered around and made some new messes. I finished the 1:1 shawl I'd been knitting and started a scarf to go with the cap I made last winter. Tomorrow's high is forecast to be 40F, so I don't think I'll be sticking my nose out; DH & I have ben coughing each other to sleep the past few nights. Roxxie2
Selkie, do you have the link, address or phone for the exact site you bought from? I found out there are several with the same name! This is so confusing! Something doesn't sound right there. That's an outrageous shipping fee. I've dealt directly with them before and had fabulous service. Debra from Olde Cape Cod
That is strange about the EZ cutter. $15 shipping sounds kinda crazy! Deb, the awesome bench arrives on Friday....party at my house!! :yay:
Selkie
This is the home page. http://midwestproducts.com This is the page where I looked for the ultimate cutter. http://midwestproducts.com/products/easy-cutter-ultimate
Roxxie2
Thank you Selkie! That's more like it! Apparently there are several companies with the same or similar name! This is where I ordered the original! I knew we could get this sorted out between all of us!

After these, it will be only baseboards and crown moldings. Yeeeh! Fun, isn't it! LOL! The Lafayette is a sweet little house. It took me a bit to figure out the staircase too, but I loved the spiral so much that it was worth all the cussing and fussing at it. I liked the shake shingles too altho I ended up painting them terra cotta to look like tile which was kinda cool. It's a great house with some very nice features. My hands gave out on me yesterday so I didn't get into the studio and I'm not sure if I'll get anything done in there today either but it might be a good time to go on the hunt for that elusive goose. Yes, the silly bird is still missing and I won't rest until I find it. <doing my best Elmer Fudd voice> Be vewwy quiet. I'm hunting goose. Here goosey, goosey, goosey....... This would probably work better if I got out of bed first huh.
Roxxie2
So, I woke up in the middle of the night and suddenly my entire theme for my Storybook has radically changed! Did you ever have the plan all made out and have this happen? I have the papers and materials all picked out, printed up and laid out on my work table and now its going to be totally something different!!! ha ha I laugh at myself sometimes! Even worse, I might have to get out the Arthur and use that for the original plan and put the Storybook on hold for a bit. Confusing???? I just needed to type it out here to see how it sounded.
Deb
I just needed to type it out here to see how it sounded. That's what we're here for! It makes perfect sense to me. I found the elusive goose!! He'd been swept up with the xmas minis but I convinced him that being a rock-n-roll goose was much better than being a Christmas goose. Now I'm just not sure if I want to use him in the Love Shack landscaping or not. LOL! See Roxy, I told you the change of plans made perfect sense to me.
Debra from Olde Cape Cod
Yeah Roxy, I wanted to do the Canterbury like a beautiful Victorian lady but then the Steampunk bug came along and we are going down a totally different Victorian road!
Roxxie2
Thanks Deb and Deb Inc. Now I am spending yet another day on the computer hunting up the pieces for my mind change. The thing is, the "new" idea isn't even close to the old one so I am totally back to square one. On the positive side, I can shelve the pieces I collected for Idea #1 and use them on the next build. I think I have it all straight now! Thank goodness I have people to bounce my thoughts off on because the dog doesn't respond.
kat57
Roxy,I can't remember,do you have room to set them both up to work on at the same time? I think you've said no,you don't,but that would be neat if you could...I am so far from finished on anything, but am trying to get my ducks in a row,health-wise,so I can start focusing on getting at least one project finished. Right now the Orchid rehab is nagging at me to get to work on it,so I moved it into my bedroom where it's warmer. I found some fabric at Joanne's the other day that has sparked me,since getting anything to match my/it's chosen colors for it have been one hold up. And last night I happily came across some teensy seahorse buttons I had lost track of which will be wall ornaments in it.
Roxxie2
Quack Quack Kat! I am so happy to hear that you are even thinking about working on your Orchid is just makes me smile No, I definitely do not have space for more than one project at a time and barely that. I have a small 4ft x 2 ft table in the corner of the extra room and whatever I can store under it. I don't mind. If I try to do more than one at a time I get nothing done on any of them!
CutnStuf
Would be working on our Orchid, but I pinched a sciatic nerve shoveling snow. Just got back from my Doc. He's sending me to a spine specialist. Probably going to have some more of those steroid shots in my hip and back. Getting old sucks!
