JaimieMarvon
EXQUISITE-REPLICA DOLL HOUSE-W/FURNITURE-ELECTRIC! Pretty costly. I doubt it will sell for that price! Not enough pics of the exterior of the house. But an interesting find anyway.
CJEP
It is beautiful, but I agree it won't sell for that price and definitely not enough pics of the exterior. Thanks for sharing it!! Carrie
Anna
Wowser! A beuty but that is a lot of money... Hmm, come to think of it if one had to pay all the materials and furniture all at once... Nope, not going to add it all up right now Hugs and thanks for sharing!
nawlinsjanet
I agree, it is too expensive and the pictures are not that good. If I were asking that much for a house I would have tons of close up pictures and many more pictures of the outside. It is a beautiful house and I am sure that a lot of work went into to the making of it....
JaimieMarvon
I can tell you that I did a "running estimate" of my dollhouse stuff as I started, including glue, the tools I bought to work on the house, paint, furniture, dolls, lighting, etc. Even with my Garfield I got up to about $2,500. Although it's not landscaped and still bunches of little things to do, but I also have enough furniture and supplies left over to decorate a whole other house! As a matter of fact I did furnish a second house. The one my dad built (1980's) is painted all white and all the furniture is mahogany/cherry stain finish and it looksso wonderfully simitrical that I may not do too much more to it. So then I have a bunch of supplies for a third "house" which will be my mother's old china cabinet that I want to tune into a dollhouse display! Maybe another $1,000, for a total of about $3,500 when its all said and done. But then again I'm crafty so I've done alot of the work myself. Micki
I agree that this is a high price tag, but when you consider the time and effort and add that to the cost of the materials....I saw a beautiful castle in The Little Dollhouse Company that had been commissioned by a customer. It took the artist over a year to build, and was decorated but no furniture had been included. Gorgeous lighting, flooring and wall decor...the price tag was a hefty $30,000 CAD...so there are people that love miniatures, but not the time it takes to create them...and then there's the rest of us!! Imagine if you could put a price tag on the time it has taken you to build your current project!!
Charlene
It's a lovely house and certainly not the most expensive I've seen on e-bay. I often wonder tho why people attempt these sales on e-bay instead of going to a specialist auction where collectors would look for houses. Guess it's one of life's mysteries. I can tell you that by the time I completed my brother's sportsbar I had well over $1500 tied up in it and it was only two rooms...the costs are certainly not 'mini'
Wee Obsession
WOW....hardly is enough to cover the AWESOMEness of it......I think they want to hang on to it, deep down, who's going to be that crazy??????????

luvdolls
:jaw: What a house!!!! Way out of my price range.
Minis On The Edge
What a beautiful house!!! I LOVE it!! I doubt if it sells for that because pictures are what sells a piece but it is gorgeous!! But then I am one of those that enjoys the full process of building things myself, which is why I prefer buying kits instead of "done" homes. I am the same way. The building process is what got me hooked on houses for sure!
wenlaine
Did anyone read the "Question by other Members" at the bottom. She goes into the history of the original house, quite interesting.
Anya
Why have they took pics of the house with it behind glass? It is not very easy to see the house properly. Maybe the house belongs to a shop and some passer by thought they'd try their luck by taking pics and putting it on ebay pretending to sell it and make some dodgy money. Seems very weird to me but then again I am having an off day haha.

doogster
The pics are a little suspect, why would anyone post such poor quality photos for something they want so much for?
uppitycats
It is indeed a lovely house... It looks like maybe it's in a glass case? The one shot of the outside looks like there is a reflection back to the camera. I agree that, for that price, many more pictures, and better pictures, need to be taken. It's actually not a bad price for everything, but for me, half the fun of the dollhouse is doing the decorating. I wonder if the seller ever thought to offer it to a local museum? With the history (a replica of a house that existed, and the people who lived in there), it might draw an audience. But I doubt a museum would have that kind of $$ in its budget... Peggi
It is a beautiful house, but if my mother had spent that much time finishing the build, decorating and making some of the items, there is no way that I could get rid of it. This would be a heirloom to be handed down through the generations. And in the case that no heirs were left, I leave it to my best friend. Even if it had to sit on the floor under my dining table for lack of room. But that's kinda how I feel about my houses I've built, I truly hope my DDs or Gks would want to keep them knowing how much I've enjoyed building and playing with them. That's exactly what I thought. If I read correctly the seller lived in the house too. To me it's priceless. You can't put a dollar amount on something like that. Of course, I'm a sentimental old fool which is why my house is full of stuff I consider priceless and my husband considers junk. :thumb: Maybe he/she doesn't really want to sell it and that's why the pictures are lousy. Maybe it was something like, "OK dear...I'll put it up on eBay and see what happens. If it doesn't sell we'll have to keep it."

SuzyQ
That house is a beauty. I read the history on it and it sounds like his mother did alot of hard work on it. I would hate to sell an heirloom like that. Maybe I should keep track of how much we put into this Garfield. Then again it might make me sick. LOL

Missymew
I was saddened that this person would attempt to sell a house that had been commissioned and finished by her mother. I would either keep it, pass it on to another family member who felt the same way, or at least donate it to a museum. She must need the money. -Susanne
chesterfieldzoo
It's fun to speculate and all, but I am the type that if I want to know, I just ask. So I did. Let's see if they answer me. I'll let you know if they tell me why they are selling it.
