I have a few pic's of the siding. I've actually completed more of the siding but i forgot to take pictures before i put the paint on it. The paint will be a surprise so i'll have to wait probably a couple of weeks before i can post more pictures of the exterior (i want to get most or all of the siding in place and painted before i post the pictures because the color is really quite interesting and i want to show the full effect after i get more completed I'm really loving the color

siding and more progress!

March 3rd, 2007. Okay, first off, i don't have any pictures downloaded yet i'll try to do that this evening! Yesterday I spent a good portion of my day the the BH! I broke out the container of spackle and filled in the gaps on all the of the new trim that i've applied. I also ran a bit around the edges of the trimwork to fill in any no so smooth areas. I'll have the joy of sanding all of that today I finally textured my foundation. I had several thoughts on how i w

trimwork

I spent some time today sanding all the exterior trimwork (corner pieces and roof trimpieces)...after doing all that, i glued all the roof trim pieces in place and started on the two bay windows. I've decided that i'm going to stucco the house. I'm not up for all of the siding that needs to go on this house. I'd have to sand each piece and i'm just not up to fighting the warping of the strips. So i think it will look nice in stucco. I don't see that very often on this house so it will be another

Finally some progress on the Beacon Hill!

February 18th. Well, my poor neglected Beacon Hill...I have been wanting to get to this house! I cleared up my mess and dusted her off....knocked off the cobwebs and dug in yesterday! I spent most of the day working on this house. I kinda took my time, so i wish i'd accomplished more, but i'm pretty happy with what i did accomplish! The foundation is completed finally! I had to make new foundation pieces for the bashed extension, and i beefed up the existing foundation a little. see

Harrison pictures

January 28th, 2007. Today i did a little sanding of the spackle on the top portion of the house, to prep it for the stucco texture stuff i was going to apply. I have been leaning towards stonework up the towers and bays, but after looking at more pictures of the Harrison last night, i decided I wanted the tudor look more around the bays than I did the stonework (plus i'm getting tired of cutting egg carton stones ). I mixed my dollhouse stucco mix yesterday...i had

more progress on the Harrison :)

January 27th, 2007. Okay, so no new pictures today....but tomorrow..... I woke up this morning feeling so much better! I felt energized to work on my mini's/dollhouses and I was going to really accomplish alot!....I had a cup of tea...then scanned the forum...scanned ebay....scanned the forum, scanned ebay, ......yet...at 9:45 I finally made up my mind to get going. So I go down to the kitchen/construction zone and i look at each house...I wanted to work on the Beacon Hill, but it's

holes holes everywhere, their in my house, their..

January 23rd 2007. Yay! Today Andrew used his new Dremel and cut me some holes! That is two whole houses that I needed stuff done on! The first, the Harrison: since I turned the staircases around I needed new holes cut....(oops I just barely in this moment realized we need to do the 3rd floor as well  ) oooppps...maybe i'll wait another day for that one. ....anyway, we cut the hole longer and i cut out a little filler piece to fill in the gap a little towards the back of the

Pictures finally!

It's taken me awhile, but I finally took pictures! I'm including pictures of the project i've been working on the past two days on and off....cutting the egg crate material into stone shapes. I still feel sick so i haven't felt up to doing anything else...I'm up to a whopping 2 baggies full now!...i probably need around 6 i'll bet, for the amount of house I want to cover. I'll fill in any gaps with spackle before i start gluing them on. I'm thinking gluing the stonework on before painting will

stonework

January 20th, 2007...wow I must be feeling worse than i thought, i almost put the year as 1997 I was thinking "paperclay" for the stonework on this house. Last night I got to thinking about the egg carton stonework I read about recently on this forum. Well, I have 2 1/2 bricks of paperclay, so i would need to buy much more to do my Harrison with. So lets figure about 5 more bricks and the cost at michaels is 5.49...hmmmm i may even need more than 5 bricks....well i have more than

The lovely, stately, gorgeous Harrison!

January 19th, 2007. I finally got this house last week! It took alot of effort to not build it on the spot! I managed to wait almost a week before popping open the box! On tuesday, i officially broke the seal and removed all the sheets for inspection! I labeled each piece and removed them from their respective sheets. I finally got to sanding them on thursday (yesterday) and was so excited about starting the house I didn't take pictures. I fought with the front pieces a bit, trying

Bellingham farmhouse

January 6th 2007. I had a bite by the building bug again this morning. The Bellingham was practically screaming to get out of it's box....so I complied with its wishes. I built most of it today. I had some troubles with the roof on the right side of the house. I tried multiple ways to fix it. In the end, i will just add some wood to fill in the gap at the peak and call it a day. Except for this problem, the house was great to build! I haven't permanently attatched the f

more progress!

I got a late start today since i was playing around on the forum this morning  I completed the ceiling papers and wallpapers today in every room except the 3rd floor hallway. Now that i have an idea of how that will look, i'll complete that this weekend. I put the mansard roof trim on and completed the mansard roofing (well almost...no shingles) but the bendy parts are in! Looks great! I put the tower roof together, it just needs the bendy parts of the roof

starting to look like a house!

December 3rd. I accomplished alot this weekend!!! Starting in the dining room, I completed the angled wall as well as closing in the ceiling portion that had just a beam hanging there. I like the feel that it gives the room now that it's closed off. The wallpaper that i chose for that room turned out to be a mistake. I couldn't decide between it and the darker green. I settled for the lighter green because the pattern was different (the darker green has the exact pattern as the hallway wallpaper

next steps

I was going to get the porch completed this weekend. I dry fitted the porch posts and porch ceilings and floors.....looks like it would be a very tight fit for putting on siding so i have now changed all of my plans. I'll have to side before i work on that....and i have to get the foundations completed before i side...so...lots more little projects before i can dive in to the big projects. I need to paint the trim/roof etc first, but i now want to get all of the decorative pieces installed first

Porch extension started!

Today i've been working on my porch extension. I've cut the porch floor and ceiling to size! This will definately be a unique house! I hope it turns out nice! Lots more to do yet, i need to make a foundation box for the extension and get to work on all of the new foundation pieces. Hopefully i will complete that today, but i'm yearning to get the porch done now on the Brimble's so i may switch gears and work on that for the rest of the afternoon. Plans for the weekend:

updates from last week

December 31st. Just thought i'd throw in a couple of my pictures from last week. I was going to work on the BH this weekend but was overcome by an insane urge to build another house...well two actually The chimney is almost finished on the exterior, just needs 1 or 2 more coats of acrylic paint, then 1 coat of matte varnish. Next chance to work on this awesome house is next weekend. I have thursday off but i want to finish building the Brimble's! That is a cool store

messy day

December 23rd. Today I sanded all the spackle on the house. WHAT A MESS!!!!!!!!! One of my cats kept walking thru the piles of dust!! Arg! I had little white footprints all over the counter. Finally got the mess cleared up! I found the missing chimney trim piece and discovered that i was supposed to have glued it onto the chimney before i put the mansard roof on. I had to cut a little over an inch off of the bottom of the piece, then i glued it in place on the chimney. The shingle

here a spackle, there a spackle....

I didn't get to work on my house for a several days due to work and yesterday i was working on a project for someone else. After that i was to tired and drowsy to do anything else....so i watched a mini-series on dvd. Today i spackled the edges of all the overhangs and all the dormer window pieces. I covered up all the openings to the house with plastic bags and will sand on my next day off (thursday). Next weekend i'll have a 3 day weekend so i plan to get back into high gear on

front porch idea

Okay, so here's the deal. I'm not getting the look that i want with the replacement porch posts, so i will do the whole porch with the posts that are supposed to go with the house. That is the right look for what i want, i love those posts for this house! It must be! I'm not going to use the spindles and posts that are shown in the picture either...i have a couple ideas on how i might do the railing and posts. The ones in the picture look like they belong indoors and are very out

New photos and such

December 11th. So here's the progress over the past week. I attempted a dormer window last night. After my clumsy attempts with wood glue, ( i put on quite a performance of having 10 thumbs last night, what a clumsy goose)...i will use quick grip on the rest of em! I also discovered that in my haste to get the wallpaper up, i didn't consider a couple of things...such as the dormer windows need paint...so i'll have to paint all pieces before i even install. And the upstairs fireplace needed stain

completed staircases

November 28th. I completed the staircases today. The hall wallpaper is in place as well. Wish I hadn't been so determined to get the staircases in today! I wanted to poly the wood and should have. Now I've decided I want to do it for sure and it's going to be a challenge now that the staircases are glued into place. If I don't do it, I won't be happy with how it looks...so...that will be one of the projects for the weekend! I haven't glued in any of the railings yet cuz i want to ge

Room bash pictures

November 26th. Opps i forgot to take pictures of the stair pieces after staining. Ah well i'll post those another day. This morning i kept going back and forth on green vs red wallpaper for the main hallway. So off I went to JoAnn's to find some jacquard ribbon for the stair runners....I knew this would help me with my selection of wallpaper...and it did. Red hallway it is! Now i'm stuck....dry wall mud textured ceiling MUST come before wallpapering....which follows pain

primrose kitchen bash

November 24th. I spent the afternoon and evening working on the primrose kitchen bash. Looks great, I just need to do some tweaking when i put it together. All the exterior architectural stuff will come together after i get the main body of the house put together. Until then, I'll wait to put the additional completely together, i don't want to find out after i glue it that it needs some fine tuning  I've got a couple of ideas for the exterior of the addition, but i want to get the ma

kit bashing!!!!!!!!!

November 22nd. Okay here's the deal. When I have seen the beautiful pictures of this house, it has always bothered me that this house doesn't have a dining room and that most of the time the furniture ends up in the main hallway. So when I was trying my furniture on for size i decided to put the dining stuff in with the living room. Well that made that room to squishy and i couldn't see all the pretty living room stuff. So I put the dining stuff in the hallway. I thought about adding on a conser

furniture

November 20th. I went thru all of my furniture and accessories that i have stored in the basement (i got alot of the stuff when i bought my garfield)...boy i didn't realize i had so much! I found a buncha furniture and accessories that i thought would be great for the BH...problem is there wasn't enough room in the BH for everything that i want to put in it  So...i took photos of the stuff that "may" go in the house. I'll have to see how everything looks after i get the s
