New photos and such

December 11th. So here's the progress over the past week. I attempted a dormer window last night. After my clumsy attempts with wood glue, ( i put on quite a performance of having 10 thumbs last night, what a clumsy goose)...i will use quick grip on the rest of em! I also discovered that in my haste to get the wallpaper up, i didn't consider a couple of things...such as the dormer windows need paint...so i'll have to paint all pieces before i even install. And the upstairs fireplace needed stain. Ah well, that is what trim is for eh? to cover up messes? I know why i usually save wallpaper and decorating for the last....this has definately been an out of order build for me! I'm thinking of doing some sort of tile on the fireplace hearth. Not sure yet, it's kind of ackward to work in that space. I wish i had thought about staining and stuff before i glued the pieces together to.

I didn't meet alot of my goals this weekend, but i'll set them to accomplish on my next weekend off. I did end up doing other things i hadn't planned on such as laying tile in the kitchen addition. I'm happy with the way it turned out. Today I sanded and glued together dormer window pieces (some of which were broken from my impatient removal from the die sheets. I may possibly work on those on thursday, my next day off. I'll need to paint them before installing. Also, the bendy pieces that go around the tops of the windows may need to be modified I didn't read the instructions last night before i attempted the window and the bendy piece (on a dry run) didn't fit well. Ah well, i've been making little modifications here and there all along, why not the windows  I may just have to pop the dormer window out and try again.

Hmm...i put wallpaper and/or scrapbook paper on the ceilings. Another first for me. I usually do the same consistent textured ceiling in each room. The rooms with the scrapbook paper ceilings all have seams cuz the paper is to short. I'm not sure if i will do some sort of ceiling trim, or if i can "let that go" and just ignore it. :) The new improved dining room wallpaper is definately better. I like the darker look better!

The tower floor/hall ceiling. Not sure what i'm going to do with that. I could just close it off. I do like the idea that a couple of people here had about stained glass. Depends onwhat i find to use i guess. I won't tackle that issue yet!

Lets see, i had glued on the trim that runs under the roofline....had to redo one piece as it was crooked. I can live with it now! I broke the exacto knife blade in the process. Opps. I started laying wood flooring in the dining room, then decided that staining it after the fact wouldn't be a good idea...cuz i started getting clumsy and getting glue on the unstained wood. had to pull up part of the flooring cuz of that little maneuver (dropped a piece of wood that had glue on it, it went all over several pieces (oh, today i stained almost 4 bags of skinny sticks, in anticipation of laying floors...i'll probably need more, but i wanted to see how far this would get me so i could figure out how many more to buy).

I'll lay the flooring after i get all the trim work on the exterior done. I plan to use a little spackle along trim edges and things to fix any little blemishes. I want to cover over the seams where the bay windows come together as well, so i won't complete the interior bays until this is finished. I'm thinking about putting in window seats in one, or both of the bay windows.

I did a trial run with the porch roof and the new posts...obviously they are too tall, but i will be doing some modifications to the porch anyway...( also need to buy another package from hobby lobby, i think 4 more will be good). I will be extending the porch to run all the way down to the end of the new extension. I haven't decided if the porch roof will also become a part of the deck or not, we shall see after i get this more worked out. I did a little trial to see if posts and spindles would look ok....i had some laying around, so if i can use them instead of buying something different, that will be cool. I jsut need railings at this point.

I guess that's all for now! tons more to do!

Wow! You've done so well & achieved so much in your long weekend. It's looking really good & taking shape nicely. I love the kitchen floor; the tiles are so warm looking.

So this was the first time you'd wallpapered before the construction is finished? I must say it looks great - all the patterns run very straight - it's a real pain being a perfectionist, isn't it? :flowers:

And, thanks for taking the time to do all the photography: it's much appreciated :thumb:
