Harrison pictures
January 28th, 2007. Today i did a little sanding of the spackle on the top portion of the house, to prep it for the stucco texture stuff i was going to apply.
I have been leaning towards stonework up the towers and bays, but after looking at more pictures of the Harrison last night, i decided I wanted the tudor look more around the bays than I did the stonework (plus i'm getting tired of cutting egg carton stones ).
I mixed my dollhouse stucco mix yesterday...i had added to much water and it wasn't the consistency that i wanted...so i added more. Nope, that didn't help...then i added paint to thicken it up...still no success. I decided to try the sand paint that i have, so i textured all of the ceilings with that yesterday. this morning when I got up I was inspired to not only use the sand paint for my stucco on the outside, but to give it a good layer, give it a different look. So i buttered on a good layer and used my sponge brush to smooth it out. I LOVE the look it has given the house. It is PERFECT! I don't know why i haven't thought to use this sand paint in a thicker layer before. It's really cool. I'm letting it dry for now. I've decided to not use a bright white as the stucco color on the house, but to go with a softer look like parchment. Instead of staining the trim pieces, i've decided that i'm going to paint them all so that i have a consistent color. I love the way this house is turning out. I wish i had used the same stucco treatment on the ceilings of the house. I sponged it and it looks kind of like popcorn ceilings. Ah well.
I was debating putting the stucco on the interior walls and having the tudor look inside. I've decided against that, well in part anyway. I'm going to put wallpaper 2/3rd of the way on the walls and have wainscoting around the bottom section. I'll do the dark wood trim in the interior to give it a sort of tudor look. Yep, gonna do this in all of the rooms. why not?! I love creating more work it will look great tho! i fixed the hip roof. It was crooked above the front door. I just need to touch up the stucco a little there.
