Bellingham farmhouse

January 6th 2007. I had a bite by the building bug again this morning. The Bellingham was practically screaming to get out of it's box....so I complied with its wishes.

I built most of it today. I had some troubles with the roof on the right side of the house. I tried multiple ways to fix it. In the end, i will just add some wood to fill in the gap at the peak and call it a day. Except for this problem, the house was great to build!

I haven't permanently attatched the front porch because i like to paint the house first, then add stuff like that...it give a cleaner nicer look.

Not sure on the house color yet, or interior but i wanted to get the house together so that i can plan and daydream. I placed the partitions in the house, but they aren't glued in, i'm not sure about room configurations yet and they also add additional support until I decide. I may go with real doorways and doors in the house, in which case i will have to build the partitions out some since they are all short...

I cut the exterior doorways taller to accommodate possible nicer doors....after getting the house together, they are now to short again  so i have to decide if i will use the nicer doors or not...nicer doors mean upgraded windows....i can see where this is going...more money spent...so we'll see....

Marg you inspire me!

I have nooo idea how I would keep all those parts not used from getting mixed in with other kit parts.

how do you do it. and in your dinning room? amazing!

this house reminds me of the MHM we are doing!

are the rooms nice and large? kind of looks like it!

Lynette! thanks! It's not hard to keep the pieces together. I put all small parts in baggies or freezer bags and when i'm not using them, i put the bags of parts in the particular house for safe keeping. All bigger parts stay in the box until i'm ready for them...and the box is placed under the house when i'm not working on it.

The rooms are not bad sized, well some of them are a little small, that si why i want to think about my floor plan before i glue in the dividers...the bedroom and living room are longer than the other rooms, but definately more narrow. If you would like measurements, I can get them for you! just let me know!

sweet to offer room sizes but just curious because I know the MHM has wonderfully large rooms...the only good point about that kit. I will admire othe MDF kits but I have nooo desire to have another.

and soo not good how to be more organized makes me think I ought to start one more project. ;)

Happy Building

Nutti, the footprint of the house is big, but with the front porch space it really decreases the room inthe house. The room sizes aren't large, but they aren't tiny either. It's a cool dollhouse if you decide to get one. I loved the exterior of the house, all the angles, that is why i wanted it.

I may build the MHM after this one, i love how quickly the houses go together. I want to bash mine as well, the kitchen is just way to small. I think i may just do one story tho. I'm thinking about turning the staircase. I have seen it on a couple of houses and really like the way it looks.

Hi. I googled Bellingham Farm house and came across your post. I just built one for my daughter for Christmas 08. She picked out the colors. I had no idea what I was getting into! After putting the walls up, etc. I then had to purhcase a dremel along with a clamp. I taught myself how to measure, saw and miter. After 8 coats of paint, here is my farm house. Unbelievable that the shingles had to be glued on one at a time! Many of them had to be cut at angles or in half. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to post a picture of it on this blog.
