minilinda2001
Fantastic. I found "skinny sticks" in our Dollar stores. Near the bamboo skewers. Sawdust, glue and stain filler is a great technique - will try the next time!
beccas1963
Very nice floors! And I have a question. I am wanting to make a random length think that is what they call it floor. how long are the "planks" of wood? My brother JR is ripping my wood for me as we speak so need to think on the lengths for the randomness? Thanks, Bec

Bonsaikathy
The sawdust, glue & stain make a far superior filler to wood putty (actually it's do-it-yourself wood filler) that matches your wood & sands far smoother than wood putty. I've heard of this technique before. It does sound like it would work. Kat
havanaholly
I use the Elmer's white all-purpose glue, rather than the yellow wood glue, so I can get a good color match with the stain.
whippet-gal
I'm in the process of making a floor boards for one of my Grosvenor Hall rooms from the wood cutout sheets from the Orchid. I sat here sawing anyway like mad, last night, totally engrossed, totally happy; I knew I was right in keeping all the 'waste' pieces. And, yes, I kept the all the sawdust, to use as filler I'll do photos when I can. Jackie - slowly going insane, but in a small way.
madhatter
Your floors look great, always nice to get a freebee. Super nice of the manager to give them too you. Know how much work you put into all the cutting and sanding and filling and staining. I did this with popsicle sticks and man were my hands sore after words. jenn

chattycathy66
Your floor looks great ! I was just thinking of where I'd like to add hardwood floor in the Beacon Hill, so it's good to know there's another option than the regular stuff! gemlady
I like the looks of the floors, I have used the popsticks and the walnut but they are getting priciey I have a starbuck at our grosery store need to check them out. Looks like they are made of white pine which is a good wood.
madhatter
You can get popsicle sticks cheep, we get a coupon for 40% of every two weeks. That would take some of the price off. I use the jumbo pack to make it cheeper. jenn
CJEP
I ordered the coffee stirrers off line. I got something like 10,000 of them for about $10. Mine claim they are made out of birch. I'm going to use them for siding and floors in my Brookwood (once I start it).
woodinville guy
Holy cow that is a lot of stir sticks! you could side you real house with them. :-) -Dave
CJEP
Now that would be a task. One I don't think I would want to do. I figured I could use them for floors and sidings and see how far I get with them. They were only a little bit more than a package of 1000 so I figured I would go for the case.
