2015 HBS Creatin' Contest kit

after musing over what to make with this kit an idea struck me now I can't wait to get started but I promised myself I'd finish my current project (a See's candy shop) before I buy this kit!

I ordered the kit when I first saw the contest. It's just too cool looking to pass up. I have a ton of accessories for a japanese tea room, so I think this is going to house it all.

Can someone who bought this kit tell me how wide the sliding door is?

Thanks! I was looking at it on the HBS site today and had a brief fleeting thought that it would make a good 1:24 airplane hangar. Then the Victorianna made sad puppy dog eyes at me and I pushed the thought from my head.

 

(I still do think it would work well for that, but the sliding door wouldn't be big enough for a 1:24 airplane to fit through, so it would either need to be bashed or assumed that the door for the plane is on the back, open side..)

I had the same thought about the hangar!    But, a 1:24 scale plane would be huge with this kit!  I made a 1:32 scale Sopwith Camel for a 1:12 scale build (that plane would be too large for this kit) and it was small enough for me...I couldn't imagine going even smaller to fit through this opening.

You could make a hangar door to fit the back opening...

I had been looking at this kit for months, just couldn't think of what it would be. Then it hit me.

An artist's studio, possibly studio/art school, since it is kinda big.

Then again, maybe the artist paints and sculps....double studio, or husband and wife artists........or.......

Waiting for kit to arrive, then we shall see.

How much were your shipping charges? Was looking at it, thinking of getting it but even though I clicked on purchase still no idea.

Afraid to go too far into purchase til I know lol

Shipping charges to NJ were $6.99, it ships out of Atlanta. Hope that helps.
