A Funny Thing Happened

Holly sounds like you are really adjusting well to the new "hardware" and finding that it's working quite normally! Great! It will be good I'm sure to be able to use the right wing again soon!

In the meantime have a wonderful Christmas and we all thank our dieties that you are going to be with us to kick us around for a long time!

Well I certainly didn't mean to kick anyone! I was supposed to go to the GYLEC's office in about two months for a followup check of the pacemaker and TODAY WAS THE DAY! There are about three majoy pacemaker manufacturers and only one of them so far is set up with telephone telemetry so all the patient has to do is plug in the "box" and dial up the number and the pacemaker can be checked over the phone. Mine isn't one of those, so I got to go in to the office and have a nurse put four leads on my chest and plug me in to a machine, so while I was finishing paperwork and telling another nurse all my meds (which I hadn't brought, so doing dosages from memory) the first nurse was tapping the computer screen to make the pademaker make my heart beat faster or slower, skip beats and generally do some of the yucky things it did before the pacemaker went in, just to make sure it works OK; it does.

Then the PA came in to fuss at me for not taking my beta-blocker & I showed him that bottle, with its four remaining tabs for this month because I have to refill it before we leave Friday for a week of paddling, cycling & hiking, and then we discussed whether I still need it, since my blood pressure dropped right back down to what it was before I started having problems, and we agreed I can take a half tablet for a while and get my pressure rechecked in a month or so to see if it's still down.

Then the Gorgeous Young Lebanese ElectroCardiologist came in to admire how nicely my scar is healing and to congratulate me on dong so well and I got to hug him again for saving my life and then we told both of them they needed to find some sort of "zone-out" physical activity they enjoyed doing to de-stress, and what we had done last weekend and were getting ready to do this weekend, and I think they got a teensy bit jealous.

I go back in August and every six months until my pacemaker's manufacturer gets with the program and sets me up for telephonic telemetry, too, or until it's time for a new battery in ten years (when I'm 76).

Well that doesn't sound pleasant at all! It's kinda like someone having a remote control for your heart! That would just be so weird to feel. But the main thing is that you're doing okay and that's all that matters. (well, hugging the really cute doctor is a perk too)

I'm very glad that the pacemaker is working well - and that you have a hunk of a doctor - with a perfect excuse to hug him from time to time! I've been wondering if everything was alright with you - thanks very much for the update. :flowers:

You just take everything in your stride, don't you Holly? You have a very positive attitude to life - well done, girl!

I'm so glad all went well for you at your check-up & you have a hunky Dr to hug.

Hugs to you :)

Nah, just the things I can't do a d****d thing about!lol This is the only chance we have to get it right, and no one on their deathbed ever said, "Oh, I wish I'd spent more time at work"! so DH & I decided after a lifetime of working hard it was time to play, and no grownups making you come in when it gets dark!
