KathieB
You actually have a choice -- you can paint the under roofing or after shingling use a two-hair brush to touch up the bits that peek/shine through. The latter is a great solution if you have a lot of tedious in your DNA helix.
Blondie
Hahaha! Point taken! I will be sure to paint it properly or I'll be super mad at myself.
Blondie
The last room got carpet. All done with that kind of work! Now it's just outer paint, outer trim, and inner trim. :bounce:

Roxxie2
I have a horrible time painting shingles so in the past I left them natural and sealed them with acrylic. I got braver and discovered that a sponge brush worked wonders and left a nice texture on the shingles. I wrapped the house with paper before I painted the roof. Kathy, thanks for the great tip about painting the roof the color of the shingles first! I never thought of that!
Blondie
I just got this photo of my niece playing with her Princess House today (Arthur I gave her when she was turning 4). Methinks she will be happy to have a much bigger, older-kid house. She has no idea what's coming! Hahahaha!
Dalesq
Wow! Family resemblance! She's going to love the Rosedale!
Blondie
Yes, she's MINE! Ok, not really, but strangers always think she's my daughter because both of her parents have blonde hair. (Despite the nickname, I'm a redhead.) I've solidly gotten her addicted to minis, so I truly think she'll collect one day when she's older. Until then, it's playtime!!
Blondie
Real Life has RUDELY interrupted my Rosedale work. However, I'm hoping to find some time over the holiday weekend to work on it. I need to go buy paint so I can get it on the roof before I do any shingling. I'll work on that and window casings next. I have 27 days left to finish this puppy! :bounce:

Blondie
Oh dear.... I definitely bought more than paint.... Hahahaha! However, I DID get enough paint to do the roof and then the shingles, so hopefully I can work on that soon. I also picked up wood at d*** Blick to make some trim. For you half scalers, I saw 1/2 scale siding at d*** Blick in the architectural models section. I was very surprised to see it, but there it was! It's small sheets of siding within the sheets of wood section if you ever need any.

Mine on my iPad comes up with some very interesting changes, even when I've typed correctly!
havanaholly
The censor feature is why I type store names containing D i c k with spaces between the letters (D i c k Blick, D i c k's Sporting Goods, etc).

Blondie
I have the first section of speed shingles done. So easy and purty!! I really don't think there would be any cracks if you didn't paint the under roof first because the speed shingles have lots of overlapping coverage, but I'm glad I did anyway! My camera battery is charging now, so I'll put up pix later. This is so much easier than the individual shingles. Ahhhhh. I'll never go back (which is a shame because I have a few bags of solo shingles hahaha.)
Blondie
New pix up of the roof shingles. It was fast and fun, except for the wonk angles. Hahaha.
