Look for old issues of Architectural Digest in thrift stores to get ideas. Mark Turpin comes up with some uber cool modern designs.

I don't like the look of sterile white modern architecture, but I've seen some houses that could only be called modern and they were simply lovely. And they looked very comfortable on the inside too.

There's a woman named Annie Hertz or Hirschfeld or something like that and I think she still lives on Mercer Island by Seattle - I may be wrong. But she does modern interior decoration and design and it's gorgeous. I wish I could see more of her work - she takes modern and makes it so livable. When I find her last name, I come back and correct it here.
