From the album: My First Dolls house
I planned on leaving the landing open to the downstairs but realism won out and I had to make it look usable aka safe. I made the banister to match the dining room divider. -

Bathroom tiles and flooring completed. I had to spend a lot of time making the existing door opening smaller to fit the odd sized handmade door I purchased at Miniatura. Just skirting and coving to go and this room is fully decorated ready for when I find the right fixtures. -
If you had an opportunity to buy a Brinca Dada Edward house in Fair to good condition.. What would you pay for it? I'm umming and ahhing as to value and need some advice.

Trying out this light in the room... Not sure if I'll use it. I was just going to use a nondescript ceiling mounted fixture in this room. But the demanding little minx wants something more. The room is still in dry fit so the left hand corner of the show will be grouted once the walls are glued together. As will the floor to wall junction. Excuse the droopy shower rose, it's just propped in there like everything else in this room. -

I need your assistance in picking a trim for my Chandelier shade upcycle. After Carrie's comment on the last pic about contrast, I thought I'd try one more option. I think we might have a winner?... -

My bead cages finally turned up from China, so I made a quick light out of one of them. I have three.. they would make good ball pendants over an island or over bedside tables.... I just punched a hole in the top for the bulb wiring added a necklace chain and done.. The cage opens so you can change the bulb. -

So I'm still on a lighting kick... I bought these cheap plastic lights from China a while ago... They were boring as is, but had good lines. I tried painting them silver with metallic acrylic and a brush... NOT successful!.. So I bought some aluminium spray paint and gave them a good coat. Unfortunately the bumpyness left from the original paint job still shows on this tester lamp. The rest will only be getting spray paint for a smoother finish. I also added some copper tape and some nail art rectangles to the edges before painting, to add a bit of detail to the plain shade and make them seem -

With the base painted.. might need to lighten this up a little with some white wash.. we shall see... it looks darker in the photo.. it's more gray in person. -
Modern Gustavian inspired Lamp with potential paint finish tester.JPG

So my new thing is modern Gustavian inspired minis.. so I made myself a lamp... The turning beside it is a tester paint job I did to see if I could get a good aged grey wood colour that you see so much of in this style. I like it.. might need a little bit of white stippled on for highlighting. I drilled a hole in a houseworks turning for the base & The structure to hold the lamp up is a nylon washer and two clear plastic fastener backs. The shade is printed linen over cardstock. The print is much softer in real life.. not sure why so dark here... I think I need to -

And the Lamp lit. Pretty happy with it... now it just needs a paint job to really have that aged Swedish grey look. The shade is printed linen fabric over cardstock.. the image is much softer in real life... not sure why it is showing up so black in photos.. -

A modern light fixture made with a simple ball pendant fixture I had in my stash and a wire ball from the local "Choice" store (Australian version of the dollar store, though hardly anything is a dollar. ). All painted with Rustoleum Satin Nickel spray paint -

So, I decided to design and build my own half scale modern house! My husband "persuaded" me to draw up plans and build it in cardboard first instead of just cutting up wood and hoping for the best...I have to admit he might have a tiny point . Building a cardboard version really helped me work out the shape of the interior walls and I'm really pleased with it so far! I'll start an album for my build soon

I replaced the stone paper I originally put on with this brick "mat" I found in a craft store. It is supposed to be used with the little Christmas villages they sell.-

I wasn't going to put stairs in but gave in to the nagging voice in my head...I made both sets from scratch.
