Jane S
Greetings folks, I have gone through pages and pages of different dollhouses, room boxes and even drawn the concept of what I want my first big build to be. Before I consider scratch building, I wanted to see if you seasoned vets know if this one already exists in some structure. I know I can have a custom built dollhouse, but I cannot justify the large expense at this time. I have seen a few storefronts that are similar, has someone attached two units together, successfully? Any ideas on how to create this structure via purchasing something familiar? The concept is: Holiday INC.. Built like a old Brooklyn storefront with rooms on top: each room would be a different holiday manufacturing area :E.G. Easter/Christmas/Halloween/ with those characters and themes I'm guessing maybe someone has already done this?? Thanks for your time and assistance, Jane
-defunct account-
At first glance, I'm thinking you could bash two Taft General stores together. Or just buy one and add the 3rd floor with plywood. Looks like pretty straight and square cuts!

That is the one I was looking at, since I would be a total newb at this "bash" thing I am trying to be sure of my plan.. so bash dont turn to smash. lol You dont see to many brownstone/ old store kits around but I know they are out there. Anyone have any extra ideas?
otterine
Modify (as in leave parts off, plug up windows, add different trim) one of the front opening houses? Like the Gloucester: http://shop.greenleafdollhouses.com/Front-Opening-Dollhouses.html This one is probably fancier than you want: http://shop.greenleafdollhouses.com/Cheltenham-Front-Opening-Dollhouses.html
mariawicz
I agree with Jane S; the Taft looks very much like your rendering except for missing a third floor. Doll's House Emporium has some Brownstoney-looking ones: http://www.dollshouse.com/dhe/dolls-houses.aspx
Jane S
Thanks for the links and info folks, I think I will go with the Taft and add a second floor, this way I am not getting way over my head on this first build but still achieving the exterior concept . My primary interest will be the interior decoration of course < shocker> Oooo all the little holiday creations I will have to pack it with.. all those holidays.. and elf’s and easter eggs.. and... ** jane skips off into the sunset** Thanks again ! fov
There was recently a half scale kit house like this on eBay, but it seems to be super rare and I doubt you'd find another one. http://www.ebay.com/...s-/170913157636 Greenleaf's laser cut kits (like the Taft) are awesome and I think bashing two Tafts together would be pretty easy, you'd just need to cut the second story off the second kit and attach it to the top of the first kit (and then maybe you could use the remaining downstairs part for another store?) I bashed two Rosedales together and it was not difficult. With this light plywood you can get away with doing a sort of sloppy job and then covering up the seams (the same would not be true of a house made from thicker plywood or MDF). Also, Real Good Toys has this: http://www.miniature...RGT-P19592.aspx (There's also a pre-bricked version.) You could easily modify the windows at the bottom to make it more like your design. I love your Rosedale creation ! I might get 2 of the Tafts as I think using some parts for the third floor and trim etc will make it a more finished product.
