I like the first roof better on this particular house.

However, if I hadn't have seen the first roof, I would go bonkers over this one.

This top is extraordinary and would work. But....for some reason the first roof gets my vote (for this house).

Can you not combine them both? The first roof looks original. You can use that like an interior dome...hidden by the first roof...

I also love both roofs....but I picture this grand project mostly with a slated roof.

I say save for the inspiration of your next house.

yes, thats what it reminds me of also. thats why I am leaning toward peaked roof

The dome is a great piece but I like your first roof. It looks more 'stately' and what ever 'roofing material' you end up using, (slate?) will be another design element - especially the texture - that will add to the overall look . . .

It's very pretty, but the peaked roof is still the best option for that chateau-look, in my opinion! Your house is so beautiful, good luck with the rest of it and please post pictures of the progress!
