I had the same problem looking for a vehicle to pull the Mardi Gras float. Although the floats are traditionally pulled by tractors, I built a pickup truck out of foam core board, even wired its headlights, simply because it was easier to build. After the truck was finished, I found a 1:12 scale tractor in a truck stop near Joplin, MO. Go figure! (The tractor is by the Franklin Mint. Pricey, but perfect.)

Perhaps a bit more work than I wanted for my first project after a 15 year layoff, but the truck certainly looks great. Maybe I should take a look around and see if I can find some pictures I could use as patterns. If I go that route I may have a lot of questions to ask you...

Sarah, I have no use for the truck. If you'll send me a PM with your address, I'll mail it to you. :p

Wow, Kathie your Mardi Gras scene is awsome!!!

Thanks, Monica. It won a prize in the HBS Creatin' Contest last year. :D
