hunterdg
I was near a Michaels last night so I thought I would use a 40% off coupon to get some Paperclay. All they had was DAS. I've used Paperclay a couple of times but never DAS. Are they pretty much the same as far as performance? Thanks.
rbytsdy
My experience is that DAS is cheaper and more coarse than Paperclay; usually I prefer that though because I'm making stonework or base for landscape so I want a coarser clay. Caseymini
I am a DAS fan! Love the stuff. I seem to have better results with it than paper clay and it comes in a package about twice as big as paper clay for about the same price. I get less cracking as it dries than with PC. It doesn't dry out as fast as paper clay when in storage and unused. Just my personal opinion though.
Minsanity
Ok - i have to ask about this. I have no idea what paper clay is. I just did a google search and the site i found said it is the same thing as air dry clay - is it really?
sparklepuppies
Yes, Paperclay and DAS clay are both air dry clays. It's what a lot of people use to make brick, stones, stucco, etc on their houses. http://www.paperclay.com/
hunterdg
Thanks everyone. With the 40% off coupon, I got the brick for $5. Might have to go back for more.
grazhina
I just did a google search and the site i found said it is the same thing as air dry clay - is it really It's not really the same as regular air dry clay, which I used years ago to make sculptures, but it can be described as a kind of air dried clay. DAS is fine for stonework, being coarser as someone else mentioned.
dooder85
The biggest difference I see between the two is the texture and the smell. I find DAS is harder to work with a pasta machine and gives rougher edges. Paper clay smells better and feels better on the hands in my opinion - but it is a touch pricier
