lili
So, My friend told me the other day she had a dollhouse for me.I proceded to get very excited until she showed it to me. It's a magnolia and apparently one of her aunts was building it ( if you can call what she did to it building). It was built with hot glue and it looks like a mini tornado hit it. Now my dilema is do I try to salvage as is or should I take it apart and start from the ground up?
Monica_the_haunted
Hey Lili! That's such a cute house! Do you have pics so that we can see the damage? It may be easier to take her apart and start over if she's in that bad of shape! Let us know!
havanaholly
Lili, I promise you that it's easier to take the whole thing apart (a blow-dryer will soften the hot glue nicely) if it's that bad, and go from the ground up. It's a delightful build and one of the most elegant houses when built. Do take before pictures and also pictures of its dismantlement as well as pictures of the build & finished product; you will amaze yourself with the transformation. Minis On The Edge
I would take it apart and start over. It is like eating leather to try and fix things as you go along . The blow dryer works wonders on hot glue
Hallowell
It is a wonderful house to build. I agree, take it apart and start from stratch.
redneck princess
Can't wait to see the pics! That is my favorite house. Even though I'm a newbie...thinking about asking for this one for Christmas. Need lots more experience though. Good luck with your new find
havanaholly
Need lots more experience though. Not to build the Magnolia, all you need to do is a decent dryfit, this house is not only the most elegant house I've built so far, it's one of the easiest, too. justmesue
I'm fairly certain you can get the original set of construction sheets at the Greenleaf store, to read on your pc. I also say start over. I had never done a tab-n-slot house until I found my"Mystery House", falling apart at a fleamarket, and rehabbed it. It's worth the effort. lili
Does anyone have the build instructions for the magnolia?
Kitten
I'm building the Magnolia now and I have the directions. If you pm me your address, I'll make a photocopy of them and send them to you.
Wolfie
I agree with everyone here! The Magnolia is a lovely doll house and should be re-built! Just take it all apart and start from the beginning! Hopefully she didn't get all that far! Wolfie
lili
Yeah it's all built. If you can call it that. I was told that a blow dryer will reheat the hot glue.
nuttiwebgal
yes a blow dryer will help to soften the glue so you can pry it apart! I hope you can save it! its such a nice house! nutti
minime
You can also use an iron to soften the glue, but put something like wax paper between the iron and the glue to keep it clean.
