Fairfield tower room

OK,this is my first post after my introduction yesterday. Also,my first question.

I just opened the box about an hour ago and after looking at the floor plans, instructions and the actual wooden sheets....well,something doesn't make sense. The side wall with the two bedroom doors has a tower wall attached at the top,yet everything else seems to point to the tower room being elsewhere.I know I am just missing something here, darned if I have figured it out yet !!!

So,questions...exactly where is the tower room on the second and third floor?Do the tower rooms back up to solid walls of other rooms in which a door could be placed?Like the bath or a hallway?

I am trying to get a firm plan before I start.

I appreciate any help

On the second floor, the Tower piece is actually part of the hallway. On the third floor, it forms the Tower itself. The tower at the third floor level is not attached to the roof. To make that room accessible from the attic, you would have to cut a hole in the roof and make an adjoining connection to the tower.

Does that answer your question at all?

The directions read in such a way that the area of the front door(on the first floor) and the hallway end(on the second floor) are called part of the tower because the walls are one piece going all the way up...

The actual "tower" is on the third floor and is sectioned off with walls all the way around it, boxing it in...(it's much of a discussion point too... :laughbounce:)

You should search in the gallery to see if there is a completed Fairfield, to help you get the idea of what the build looks like, (then try to dry-fit yours...this will help you get a better layout for how it looks...

I am finishing up the build of two Fairfield kits, one is inside out to make it almost a mirror-image of the other. If you wish, you can add a wall of foamcore or plysood with a door to make a room on the second floor. On the third floor of the rightside out Fairfield I left off the wall on the house side and made triangular pieces to extend the side walls into the attic, and strung a drape across the opening for a privacy curtain, since that side's attic will be servants' bed areas; the tower room is a utility/ bathroom. In the inside out Fairfield I installed a Foucault;s Pendulum in the top of the tower, so I removed the tower section of the second floor and installed a railing, and the Pendullum extends down to the first floor; so there is no entry or foyer in that house, just access to the family porch off of the formal drawing room.

I promise I shall take pictures and finish the film roll; the weather hasn't been wonderful, and our life has been rather hectic (I mini in between hiking/ biking/ paddling/ road trips), but once you do the dry fit and study on it, the kit will suggest things you might want to do to it.

Thanks guys !!All of your replies helped!!!

Alright,I was looking at the new pics in the gallery the other day and someone had posted pics of a beautiful Fairfield. She had this cute little blue tower room(3rd floor) and she had divided the attic into two rooms with a door between. She had a link to click that showed her progress in dividing the attic. In that attic dividing blog thingy, she had a picture of the second ploor tower area. She had turned it into an adorable bathroom, but there was no door. She mentioned maybe putting plastic in the place of a solid wall so one could see.The house was the most beautiful thing and it gave me such ideas for mine.I wish I knew who had posted it,but since I really don't know anyone here yet....looking sheepish here....

So,anyway, that lovely Fairfield is what got me started.

Let's see if this works: ... nope

If you go into the gallery and type Fairfield into the search field, it will pull up most if not all the Fairfield pictures that are in the gallery. I tried to link the search to here but that obviously didn't work :laughbounce:

Hi April, I visit the fairfields almost every day! i go to the owners gallery, which is under "community" on the left side of the page where the little girl is looking at a doll house.

The search box is on the left top when you get to the gallery page. Type in Fairfield and you should get about 5 pages of inspiration.

Wish i could just link you but i am a computer dodo.

Yes, I think you're talking about my Fairfield, although in the end I didn't make the tower into a bathroom with a plexiglass wall. (In fact, I'd forgotten I'd even had that idea until recently when I was looking at some of the old Fairfield pics on my website...)

My gallery has pics of the finished house. But most of the construction pics (including the ones you're describing) are on my website.

CatColorado -- thanks for posting all those links! Now I'm going to go look at everyone's Fairfields!

You are welcome. :laughbounce:

Hopefully I will get around to posting my Fairfield pictures. It used to be pretty but... well, I got a wild hair and decided to do some remodeling. I should just start from scratch and save myself alot of aggravation.

Oh, and I took some screen captures of where the search boxes can be found.
