I really need to finished my fairfield and get on with my life!

its been going on for a year, and its time to move on!

I finally did the attic lights, and all I need to do is the roof.

I decided after my last post, to do asphalt shingles. but what about the inside of the roof?

you know, the ceiling of the attic?

any ideas?

any special ceiling finish? or textured paint? tin?

I just need an idea so I can get on with my life!

Well, you could use newspaper, many houses used crumpled newspaper for insulation. Or, you could just put a clear coat on, my attic is just the plywood under the shingles, or if you are using it as a room, how about painting it a color? Or maybe just a neutral color for now till you decide? I would not do tin.

I just posted my ceiling disaster under the 'Painting Disaster' thread. It was a mess! I did use that white plastic ceiling stuff and painted it - you can see the results there if you are interested. I'm just new to this but I did really like the effect. It looks like an old tin ceiling with the paint starting to peel away.

Good luck, I wish I was of more help!

:ohyeah:

I usually paint or wallpaper my attic ceilings. You could also leave it as wood and put a few cross bars in it like many attics have. Hmmm....I like that idea maybe on my next one.

I use the legal notices from the newspaper to paper attic walls, and 1/4" strip wood for the laths; I did this in the Westville and in the smaller third floor room in the McKinley. I do prime the underside of the roof, in case the kit tells me to finish off a room instead.

I guess I could scribe "boards", too.

Your house is just lovely, Sherilyn!

I like to use textured wallpaper, like anaglypta, for my ceilings. You might try that. It's also paintable.

Whatever you do, congratulations! You're almost done!!
