Hallowell
:o I've seen many times in these chats references to family members as Dh, DD, and I think some other initials. :Jumpy: What do these stand for? My guess is Dear Husband and Dear Daughter. I'm not up on the slang.
prariegurl
Righto! usually means dear/ darling husband, daughter, son, what have you. Exception is on this board, dh can also mean dollhouse.
KathieB
I get confused, too. There is a partial list in the new member section (here). But it doesn't begin to touch on some of the acronymns! Like ... is a DDS the same as a GS? Maybe an update of the above post is in order?
Peggi
DH = Dear Husband SIL - son/sister in law DD = Dear daughter DS = dear son dh = dollhouse DDs = dear daughters? GK = grandkids Ok, thats all I know right now :Jumpy:

chesterfieldzoo
Between the DD, DS, DH and the CRS and the SF, MHM, CC, BH (these last are houses) you kinda need a scorecard. On another thread we also discussed who was related to whom on this forum. Another scorecard. Add in the and and and geez...... The post showed happy faces, I had used the colon and parenthesis and semi-colon and the capitol P.
Missymew
I don't know a lot of the short-cut lingo either. It's taken me quite a while to pick up what I've learned so far. Holly explained my favourite: RFLMBO (Rolling on the Floor Laughing my Butt Off). I often use BTW (by the way) as it's a quick computer shorthand. I'm a touch typist though, so mostly I just spell everything out. -Susanne
Jet
Now we are talking about "initials". I have a question too. In Dutch we have OMA and EMO. For the projects that are not finished: OMA = ooit misschien af (someday maybe finished) For the projects that are floating in your mind, but have not started yet: EMO = eens misschien ooit (oneday perhaps someday) Do you have something like that in English? BTW oma also meens grandmother and emo is sometimes used in stead of emotional. Can be confusing for outsiders.
Deb
Yep, we call 'em UFO's. (UnFinished Objects) I have a whole closet full of textile UFO's. There's a stained glass quilt top that's been patiently waiting for almost 10 years now. Deb
havanaholly
I'm a touch typist Me, too, and then I have to go back & correct where my fingers either didn't hit the key har enough or too harddd or the srong one.lol MIA=missing in action (the one piece you need to complete an assembly has vanished until immediately after you have cut a new one from scrap & completed the assembly) For the projects that are floating in your mind, but have not started yet: EMO = eens misschien ooit (oneday perhaps someday) That's the kit calling, Jet. rotflmao-rolling on the floor laughing my (donkey) off asa=as soon as imho=in my humble opinion (and ALL my opinions are humble!) newt
The DH thing really had me perplexed for quite a while, too. a fun abbreviation used by scientist friends is: WYSIWYG or "wizzywig," short for "What You See Is What You Get" here's an abbreviation used by grandparents, when referring to other people's grandkids, NAC (Not As Cute as our perfect cherub) but of course i'd never say that. IMHO is useful, and i've seen these variations: IMO (in my opinion, with no attempt at humility), and there also is FWIW (for what it's worth) The DH thing really had me perplexed for quite a while, too. a fun abbreviation used by scientist friends is: WYSIWYG or "wizzywig," short for "What You See Is What You Get" here's an abbreviation used by grandparents, when referring to other people's grandkids, NAC (Not As Cute as our perfect cherub) but of course i'd never say that. IMHO is cool, and i've seen these variations: IMO (in my opinion, with no attempt at humility), and there also is FWIW (for what it's worth)
