Diana Dollhouse

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am working on the laser cut 1:12 Diana.

So far the kit is going together really well with no issues.

Although I have noticed that the stair case doesn’t seem to have any kind of side railing? I don’t think it’s up to building codes because tiny people could fall straight off the side!

Has anyone built their own stair railing into the Diana?

No, but I have installed railings on the walls alongside stairs, and I have put balusters and banisters on stairs that didn't come with them.

I swapped out the Greenleaf staircase for a Housework’s one with a hand rail in a 1:24 scale Diana I did a couple of years ago. The Diana I’m starting on now I’m building a spiral staircase for and it doesn’t have a rail so far. :)

I've done what Holly suggests by adding a rail on the wall for staircases without a rail in other houses. Depending on your interior decor, you could add a bent wire as a rail or run a heavy wire between end posts. You could create a closed in staircase for part of the wall, eliminating the need for a rail and could use a clear or opaque material for that section. There are lots of materials you could use to act as an enclosure as well, such as thin poles, lattice, screen panels or something fancier.

I haven't done the Diana, but I've seen lots of kits that don't come with rails, not hard to add, you just need to find one style you like and attach them....I purchased laser stair kits and installed them on my SF555 and it was the best decision I made for that house!

Thank you for the advice!

Im also kind of thinking that the second floor of the Diana needs some skylights because it’s pretty dark up there.

dry fitting the roof and added popsicle sticks to the porch.  Made the mistake of cutting the corrugated cardboard the exact size of the roof pieces before dry fitting.  Should have made the pattern pieces from the assembled roof.  The way I did it, the cardboard is totally off.

HI,  I just ordered the 1:12 Diana laser cut.  Can anyone tell me the width of the house foundation?  The overall width is listed as 28" but that would include the projection of the 2 bay windows on the sides.  I'm looking for the footprint of the house dimensions so I can find out if it will fit on a table I have set aside for it.
