Irene
Hi all...I have noticed that there are several people who incorporate cross stitch into their dollhouses. There is a site called Dark Lilac that has a cross stitch conversion program in which you can create your own cross stitch patterns and its free...I thought that any of you that do cross stitch might be interested..You simply download a picture to the site and its converted into a chart. It's great for rugs, tapestries, etc.

KathieB
Thanks, Irene! Here is the link Dark Lilac Cross-stitch Conversion Program I uploaded a little picture just for fun. It took just a minute or so to return a 19-color chart that included a couple of blends. All DMC threads. You can request blends or not. You can also choose whether to keep your design private or share it. Haven't had a chance to look at the public patterns yet. I'll bet there are some nice ones. At the Miniature & Toy Museum in KC I always drool over the practically microscopic petit point items. This chart would work for petit point, too. I've added it to my list of things to try one day. shutterbugkc
That is such a cool idea! I've been wanting to make a cross-stitched quilt for a little bed and this should be perfect.
Anna
THANK you for that site, I will definitley look it through more thoroughly tomorrow as I have found that I truly do appreciate the stiching as well, I have been putting it of for a very long time but am now in the midst of the third carpet, this one will go into my Aster/Santa's cottage when it is done. wenlaine
When using the program, keep in mind that you need to know the stitch count of your cloth and also the number of stitches you want the length and width to be before you put the picture in. Otherwise it will just count the pixels which may be entirely different than the size you want.
Shy Spirit
It sounds like a terrific program - I would love to try a tapestry.
CatColorado
That's pretty cool! I have PC stitch and I never use it, too complicated for my wee brain. I'm trying to convert a blue and white rug image. I'll let you know how it goes. Karen, I have a chart for a cross-stitched rose of sharon quilt if you want a copy. Let me know. edit to say: Hey! It turned out nice with 5 shades of blue and grey with white as the background.
