uppitycats
I'm doin' the happy dance!! My bricks came from Ernie, and they are the "correct" color -- the color of the bricks already installed on my Brookwood chimney, so now I can FINISH that without problems! In the meantime, I've been scoring the floors to look like planking...got all the "long" lines drawn, now have to go through and do the "short" lines..to look like 4-5 foot planking. But I'm going to set this aside and go back to bricking. Tedious, but they DO look nice!
Anna
YAY!!!! Great news, looking forward to seeing the pics later on then! Hugs
uppitycats
Playin' with whipped cream...that's what it felt like, using the "light spackle" that I used as grout for the bricks. The texture is fluffy, airy....like whipped cream. I had to keep resisting the urge to lick my fingers!! Anyway -- it's done, for now. I want to see how this dries..whether there will be cracks to fill in, or other problems. And then when I install the floors, some touching up at the gaps where the floors go in.... but otherwise, I'm pretty pleased. At least for me, and a first time with the bricking, it seems to look OK! There are more pics in my Brookwood album, but for starters:

Songbird
Great job on the bricks! I'm glad you resisted the tempation to lick your fingers! I was going great guns on my Brookwood and then real life slowed me down, your progress is in inspiration to get cracking again!
