Painted dresser - buckling wallpaper

otterine

I think the dresser fits wonderfully with the bedroom furnishings. :D

Unfortunately, the wallpaper in this room has buckled even though I used Yes paste to apply it. :\ It's most noticeable on the long waLl behind the bed. Some papers are just more susceptible to buckling, I think. I've had this happen only one other time even though I always use the same process in pasting.

I have only one sheet of this paper left, and I would have to remove a lot of trim to redo this portion. That will be a last resort. So, I will have to figure something out. I wonder if a small iron would help...like a quilting iron...maybe it would melt the glue and reattach the paper or at least smooth it out. It would be worth a try before deconstruction.

If it was me I'd figure a way to disguise it with a long lacey, filmy,or silky swag attached over the headboard at the ceiling and draped down alongside the head of the bed.I know it's probably not period or not in the style of the room, but it would distract from the wall in a pretty way. But,that's just me.

Its stunning! I just want to move in. Cant see any buckling from here, but sometimes that happens in an antique house. The wallpaper in my dining room buckles in some seasons. Maybe you could view it as a mark of age the way you might distress a piece of furniture.

Looks great! I had the paper buckle in the dining/living room of the Vermont Jr as well as the upstairs hallway. Two totally different papers, but I used the same glue for both. The hallway had to be redone, but I used the pinhole/credit card method to get rid of the buckles in the other room.

My grandma's old house had buckling wallpaper here and there. Sometimes leaving a flaw make it look more realistic.

Beautifully done! The painting on the dresser really pulls it together with the rug and chair. Unfortunate about the wallpaper, but it isn't that noticeable and I agree with the others, either leave it for authenticity or disguise it if it doesn't correct with an iron, because I just know you aren't going to be satisfied unless it matches your vision! Your work is exceptional!

Brae,Having read some of the other suggestions in the topic section,to disguise the wall with a canopy or such draped fabric, now I don't feel like my earlier suggestion was so bad after all! But,I hope you do find a way to repair it if possible,if that would make you happier. Either way, your work is breathtaking, which I failed to say earlier!!
