Vintage black checkered floor

otterine

During a recent excursion to Hobby Lobby for a specific scrapbook paper, I ran into this lovely paper called Black and Cream Diamonds by The Paper Studio. I love that it has the weathering built right into the design. Here it is set up with the kitchen paper. I thought it might be too much, but as both Lyssa and my boyfriend informed me...'too much' was the style of the day. I'm more used to subtle modern design. :giggle: The paper is very thin, so I plan to use spray adhesive to attach it to a sheet of cardboard. I'll then coat it with matte sealer (which actually has a slight sheen to it) to bring out the color and give it the look of well worn linoleum.

Looks fantastic Brae! And timely, I just had to throw away my 4 sheets of this because I ruined them trying to line up the pattern. I would get it perfect in dry fit, and then mess it up with the pasting. Back to Hobby Lobby Tuesday. I'm just too tired for this today, I think. :)

Thank you! I bought the mouse at Rocky Mountain Miniatures when I was in Colorado for a friend's wedding and short birthday vacation. My boyfriend gave me the icebox for my birthday.

Both justonemore and I use that paper frequently for flooring. It looks just like the real thing and it does "shellac" very well (I use a low gloss top coat). I've never had to apply it to cardboard but I do always use spray adhesive for my papers. I've never had them fall unless I made the mistake of leaving them in the garage too long.
