Embroidered Mackintosh chairs

otterine

I used a pattern from Embroidered Projects by Sue Hawkins to create new covers for my Mackintosh chairs. The project called for 32-count silk gauze but I had a hard time locating it so I used 32-count linen. I also changed the colors from what was listed in the book because the pinks were just too bright for my tastes. My eyesight has always been good, but wow were these tiny stitches! I bought a magnifier and ended up with much better results. I finished the edges with twisted embroidery floss. I think they turned out pretty well for my first attempt at miniature needlework and fit in rather well with the modern style and colors in the living room.

They turned out fabulous.

I totally sympathize about the tiny stitches. All the miniature needle work I've done requires very fine placement of the thread. In my opinion, the worst part about miniature needle work is getting such a fine needle threaded.

Great Job!

Amazing work! You have such a wide range of skills for mini work. All I can do is house construction. I have no idea how I'm going to furnish and decorate the Tudor without spending a fortune
