Whimsey.

The house decided early on that it wanted a bay window on the 1st floor, so I started with that, though I didn't have a clear picture in my head of where I wanted to go with the house in general... I bashed in the window, then put on the egg carton stone (following Victoria Miniland's tut). Then the little house decided that it wanted rows of windows on either side. I struggled with ideas for the roof, and finally decided on siding slats, lined with wallpaper and the corrugated cardboard that came with the kit.

The first idea I had for this kit was the White Rabbit's house, from Alice in Wonderland-- with a huge arm hanging out the window...! (Alice eats or drinks something and grows to monster-size...) A bit arcane, though. Then I thought of a toystore, which is a bit mundane in general but I decided to go with it... I couldn't get into the toystore idea, especially as the stone-work came along and started looking like an actual house, and eventually the word "Whimsey" came to me, and nursery rhyme themes started moving in...

Miss Muffet's spider web wasn't easy-- I tried a couple things before resorting to a combination of transparency paper and transparent thread... I wish that the spider were easier to make out, but didn't want this to be a horror tale instead of a nursery tale!

I love everything about this.....your idea, the stone and brickwork, the added extras on the windows and the door is great! Very clever!
