Medieval 519 Posted July 18, 2021 I painted my egg carton stone wall. I was scared to do it because i didnt know if i had artistic ability to make stone look realistic. But im happy with how it came out, even though i know i need to improve my technique. Now my internal debate is should i add grout and try to keep it same slate color? Or leave it? Or grout with a different color? I was to figure it out before I add the chimney, which I plan on using the same stone as the foundation (I hope). Quote Link to comment
KathieB 6,117 Posted July 18, 2021 I would leave the stonework as it is. It is quite realistic. Good job! 1 Quote Link to comment
havanaholly 11,829 Posted July 18, 2021 The stone already looks grouted on my monitor. 1 Quote Link to comment
sage minis 466 Posted July 18, 2021 I agree - the stonework looks realistic and grouted. I esp. like the texture and color variations you achieved. 1 Quote Link to comment
Kells 398 Posted July 19, 2021 Grouting could lessen the 3-D effect. I agree with the others and think it looks fantastic as is. 1 Quote Link to comment

Medieval 519 Posted July 25, 2021 Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm going to leave well enough alone and not add any grout. When I do chimney I will try to get stone a little closer. 1 Quote Link to comment
