Slate?!?

Ok, here's the look for the slate, right? Woke up this morning still developing my idea for slate tiles on the front porch. Matte board, faux painted, less texture than the egg cartons, but still need some texture. I tore a piece of remnant matte board that I used yesterday to make the dining room chairs and saw how the layers of paper compressed in it had just the right texture for slate. But just painting acrylic on them made them look like, well, torn paper with acrylic painted on it. Duh, I thought. What about a coating? Mod Podge, matte finish. Gave it a try. Once it was dry, then faux paint slate. Let that dry, added another coat of matte finish, but this time tinted it with raw umber to give it some depth.
