AFTONASHLEY
Hello! I am so glad I found this group. I am working on sprucing up my childhood dollhouse for my daughter. My nieces are passing it along after they've used it for years. I believe it is an Afton Briar Hill dollhouse (which I discovered through one of these forum discussions!) Does anyone know where I might find replacement windows and an exterior door? Pictures attached. Thank you so much! https://link.shutterfly.com/ce3Qv8LKolb Ashley

havanaholly
What a pretty house! You could check www.miniatures.com to see if any of the Houseworks components fit the openings and match what's already there. AFTONASHLEY
Thank you so much! That site is going to be dangerous! lol I just purchased a door that looks identical to the one I had but might be taller. I will see if I can make it work. Thank you again! havanaholly
You can enlarge openings by shaving the excess wood to the desired size, or make them smaller by padding them with scrap wood, which can be spackled and sanded smooth and hidden under wallpaper or siding. AFTONASHLEY
Thank you so much! The door I bought from the store you suggested is totally going to work. I will have to enlarge the door opening a bit on top. What tool do you use to shave down the wood? Thank you so much!
KathieB
3 hours ago, AFTONASHLEY said: What tool do you use to shave down the wood? A utility knife/box cutter with a fresh, new blade. Have several new blades on hand. As the blade dulls, it will shred rather than shave.

AFTONASHLEY
Sorry for the sideways photo but just wanted to thank you again for recommending that site. The door works great! I bought some materials for the windows too, but am looking for some sort of sticker decal or something for the panes. I might just leave them without if I can't find anything nice. Thank you so much for your help.
