AmandaJC Posted February 10, 2021 Share Posted February 10, 2021 Hi all, I've read a lot of the threads about problems with hot glue used in the old days (and some in the current days!). I'm wondering whether you think it's worth it to rehab a house that's been put together, rather shottily, with hot glue? I found a cheap Brookwood, but it's in bad shape. I'm totally into rehabs, moreso than buying a very expensive new house. But just wondering your experiences with hot glued houses? Thanks! My first rehab was a hot-glued Laurel; one heat gun, putty knife and a bottle of TiteBond later, it was totally different, and I have two more in the workshop (a Tennyson and an Orchid) waiting their turns. Pay attention to how it went together as you take it all apart, remove all the hot glue you can, and collect all the flat clear acetate packaging you can for making replacement doors and windows, and let the fun begin! 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jbnmini Posted February 11, 2021 Share Posted February 11, 2021 Yup- the Bellingham Farmhouse I am rehabbing was put together with hot glue = hot mess! Took it apart using a heat gun, scraper and light-weight hammer.
