Dalesq
Thanks Holly Found that one in a online store - It was the right size (more or Less ) I really wanted to get one to see just how they built them , So I could build them in the future - Was really surprised at the quality of workmanship in it.. And at that price can't see making them.. Hey Ken, where did you buy the door?

Ken
Was it from an on-line dealer or eBay? On line dealer - Heck it's near impossible to find anything made in the U.S anymore.. Would I buy this brand again - YES I would..
Ken
Progress fairly slow - Busy with another project - Has been takeing up a little DH time - Finally windows starting to go in, see where on next DH build will plan a little better.. Only took 5 tries to mix the color for the living room this color will enhance the colors in the floor ( I Hope lol) and a little wallpapering going on.. http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3527_zpsdbe314d4.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3531_zps47b4bfb9.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3533_zps4be371b7.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3534_zps44342fc7.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3535_zpsb21ba1bd.jpg
Dalesq
It's looking good! The exterior color looks almost pale peach on my iPad. Is that right? That's the color my hubby picked for the exterior of the Tennyson . The inside of your (oh right, isn't it my?) Westville is looking very nice! Can't wait to see it with the floor. What did you do for the ceilings?

Actually the paint is the same paint I used for my house last time it was painted, Ceilings White - Since this is going to someone else I'm trying to keep things as neutral as I can whatever neutral is .. She can do what she wants then.. Well it could have been yours but I forgot to ship it. :woohoo:
LPCullen
Ken, just a lil glue tip because I noticed you've taped your windows in and I'm assuming that's to hold them while they're drying. If you put your glue on your window frames, and then put a drop or two of superglue on it (if it's a window I usually do the 4 corners and sometimes one in the middle if it's a long window)--just a tiny drop--and then put the window trim/window in and hold/press it in place and count to 100 and then let go. The superglue will instantly bond and hold it in place while your other glue dries....
Ken
Finished my other project - So now back to the DH full time - Still painting, wallpaper going in ( Hey wallpaper lady see I'm using wallpaper lol), Modified bay window inside cut the cross piece out , Installed pieces that curved up.. Still need to wallpaper across there.. And will paint the added pieces unless I change my mind. Added another window up stairs. Here I discovered a problem - Took awhile to solve it. I designed the window so it would sit in the middle of the frame. Well on the double windows when I built the frame and center post as one unit. When I dry fitted them it left a space between the window and center post - UGLY..... So solution cut the center post off of the window trim - Make another with 1/64th ply glued in the window then the center post tim on top of that then the outer trim - Looks great. Got lucky there. http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3549_zps5c00d190.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3535_zpsb21ba1bd.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3557_zpsbb9d56a1.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3552_zpscd53d251.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q580/wf6h/DSCF3563_zps689dd6a0.jpg
Dalesq
I like the wallpapers. The blue upstairs is light and airy. Did you add the pieces downstairs to create the curved opening around the opening to the bay window? It looks nice. The window fix is a clever idea! It's looking good! Thanks Debora The pieces downstairs I added not so much for an entire curve but just in the corners more to just clean up that area.. Hopefully it will look OK when it's done. YUP the window fix saved me actually looks better the the original idea. Wheeew
havanaholly
How did you finish the wall on the other side of the bay's arch? Wallpaper or paint?
Ken
How did you finish the wall on the other side of the bay's arch? Wallpaper or paint? I think it will have to be paint - To wallpaper back there would be almost impossible - And I believe it would be just too much wallpaper for that area anyway, Still pondering that though. Now that I think abput it - While I was painting that area - You have to almost get on the floor to see up there anyway, Once the cross piece is cut away.. A little advice from somebody who has done...dumb...ahem, clever things in the past and wished someone had stopped her. Better paint or wallpaper before you put the windows in. Dental mirrors work for tight places when you can no longer see what you're doing, and you can get these little paint brushes with swivel heads....don't ask how I know this!
havanaholly
When I dry fit the house I traced around the bay and masked off the rest of the exterior ao I could paint that area. Figuring out to do that has saved my sanity on Mildred.

Debora I will keep that in mind - I have everything in that little area painted pretty well painted with the house upside down and through the front of the windows. LOL - I will be looking for those swivel mirrors I believe I have seen them at Lowes in the TOOL section my favorite place in the whole store.. My wife usually points me to the tool section then wonders off shopping.. Then comes back and guides me out to the car LOL..

havanaholly
The dry fit is probably my greatest solver of problems. I still wound up taking my inside out Fairfield apart three times! after I'd begun gluing it up, because of the bashing I was doing.

Guest Happy Heart
(Hey wallpaper lady see I'm using wallpaper lol) For a second, he sounded like Jerry Lewis, "Hey Ladyyyyy!" LOL  House is progressing nicely. I only use wallpaper in miniature houses, helps to hold them together, lol I don't like wallpaper in my real home. It's never had any, and it never will. Guest Happy Heart
inside out Fairfield ?
havanaholly
? I built two Fairfield kits to be a single Bar Harbor Summer Cottage, so I built the second one inside out. The front entry, kitchen, pantry and stairs to the second floor are in the right side out version, and since the nursery is on the third floor I turned the tower room into a bathroom and utility room and made it open into the third floor. I built the second one inside out (mirror image) so when I put them open sides together they are halves of a single house. In that one I cut away the second and third floors in the tower and hung a Foucault's Pendulum from the center of the tower roof. FYI, Foucault's Pendulum:
