Chrysnbon parlor stove - painted

otterine

This past week, I did some spray painting and coated the Chrysnbon parlor stove with flat black. I have the stovepipe also painted, but I didn't photograph it because it was drying on another board. It toned down the super fancy look of the stove while still maintaining a lot of character.

The original silver portions were marred -- it was an old kit -- but I wanted it all black anyway. In fact, the silver accents it had distracted from all the intricate detailing.

Though I love the way it turned out, I'm 99% sure this is going to be omitted from the HBS build. It's a lovely piece but rather large for the space I have. I went ahead and spray painted it because with winter bearing down on the area, I won't get much opportunity to paint outdoors soon and I had other items being sprayed anyway. This way, it can be finished up and ready for a future project.

Me too, it looks great flat black. I love what you have been doing with these kits! What spray paint are you using? Anything special?

I usually use Krylon, Valspar or Testors, just depends where I'm shopping, if I have a coupon and what colors are available. :D This flat black is Krylon Fusion for plastic. I've used it as primer and top coat.
