Moggie Manor, so far

MerriMagic

I'd posted an earlier picture of Moggie Manor, with her fully painted exterior..but since her window pane frames are painted to look like black metal, the windows themselves looked like empty eye sockets. It was major unattractive.

So I got busy, and quickly cut some temporary paper shades for her windows and doors. And while I was at it, I stuck a Christmas tree on her balcony, and set a wreath on her third floor double window.

This is a much better introduction to MM now. I'll be adding some carved stone trim, some gargoyles, and of course a little landscaping around her base. I still need to put her chimneys on top, but that'll come later.

I have one kitty, Gizmo (you see him as my avatar) who likes to perch on top of Moggie Manor. In spite of all my efforts, he still leaps up there, even though he has to jump from the ground, up to the top. He's a very good jumper, LOL. And since I don't know how to convince him to STAY OFF MY DOLLHOUSE!!??!!!...I may have to forego putting on shingles of any kind, and instead, paint them on, Trompe L'oeil style. I think real shingling might be just too tempting to a feline who likes to sharpen his claws. The same goes for any texturing of the brownstone's exterior. If I make the stone look 'stonier', he'll see it as a jumbo nail file, and excercise his claws, accordingly!

So there you have it. This is where I've gotten so far. I'm not very fast, so improvements will be slow. But at least the exterior is reasonably presentable.

Drape the house in aluminum foil when you aren't around or working on it...that's how I trained Jasper to stay off the kitchen counters.

The Manor is lovely. Temporary or not, those shades really do add so much to the look! :flowers:

Ohhh good idea! Yup, they hate foil. Poor Gizmo, he's always looking for the highest location in the room, and of course, this is 'it'. He so wants to be King of the Hill, lol.

Mine does the same thing, I spent the day picking up paperclay shingles from my Glencroft :( I used to put lemon juice around anything I didn't want the cat on so I was going to try pouring some of that onto the roof - tinfoil may be easier.
