ceiling ideas

These embellishments will be painted white, the big question here: is the paper design that inspired them still needed at all? I could save the paper for another ceiling, or use it with them for added interest, what do you think?

I like it with the paper. I think it could be fine without it, but the house is so ornate to begin with that I don't think this would be overdoing it.

LOVE everything you are doing here.

Agree with Lyssa, keep the paper design. The embellishments may look as though they are floating loose without the design to tie them together. I think this whole ceiling is fabulous by the way. Did you make the moldings and if so how?

should the embellishments stay the color they are? since the other wood trim is this color and that is one of the colors on the paper? I have considered this also

Debora, you have such great ideas. Do you have a background in architecture? All your work is absolutely beautiful, "perfection"!

yes and no... I think I missed my calling, [ am a designer/ homebuilder wanna be. ]

But my career involves real estate loans just for senior population, I work for MetLife Bank. So I do see a lot of architecture in my line of work, A lot of satisfaction comes from knowing that because of what I do, realestate is better preserved /restored and my senior homeowners live better today.

I loved the moulding you used at the doorway in its natural state against the color of the paper. However, on this ceiling paper, I'm not so sure. For some reason, the natural wood seems a little casual in this scenario (but again, seemed absolutely fine as doorway trim - go figure).

If you painted the ceiling white (or a tad creamier), then I'd absolutely go with white dodads (lest the natural color just look like dried cereal up there). Or add a little pearl to the doodad white to make it stand out a little more.

But using this paper, I'm afraid the embellishments would get lost if painted white. Don't suppose you could go buy one more piece and just give it a try as white?

I think that I would leave the doodads partly the natural color, and maybe paint highlights in white to help it blend with the paper.

Whatever you do, it's going to be gorgeous.
