Hasan was the first thing I made for the Spring Fling. I had bought a mixed lot of fishing accessories from e-bay and intended to do a fisherman's cottage at some stage. Spring Fling gave me the perfect opportunity.
The ships bell is actually a tower bell from DHE, painted with a bit of green paint to look weathered. In the final version, I replaced the string bell pull with a chain and an "evil eye" bead from an old key ring. The evil eye symbol is used all over Turkey to ward off evil spirits and is often seen on buildings and boats. Hasan's boat has one painted on each side of the prow although you can't really see it in these pics.
