The fence was painted with a greyish acrylic wash and then I painted the wires with a bronze acrylic paint to look like rusty wire. It was originally white plastic coated wire so it took me some time to make this look old and weathered. I wanted it to look as if it was gradually being broken away and disappearing into the sand so I broke the slats in a graduated line and stuck them in a "dune" of papier maché which I later covered with sand (oh yes it was a very messy build)

The floats are just fimo with cocktail sticks and wire hooks stuck in them, baked, painted and a bit of dirty grey string threaded through and glued to the top of the stick. My hands and fingernails were disgusting for weeks during this build.
