roofonryokan.jpg

Yesterday I brought the ryokan roof up to the gift shop. I had been working on it at home, and working on a dollhouse for my granddaughter while at work.

This photo was taken this morning. It was the first time I have had the roof on the house. (I should have made sure the extensions were all the way closed before I took the photo though).

Too much!!! Yesterday, when I brought the roof up to the shop, I also brought the plywood that the whole thing is going to sit on. Since I had to move the ryokan to put the plywood on the table, I brought the whole thing outside and sat it on the picnic table so I could look at it while I worked on the roof!!! (It also was a great attention-getter for the shop, because a lot of cars stopped to look at it)!

I do love the detail on the roof. I didn't realize you have a shop in Maine! [ BTW the JP Morgan went to Maine. Jamie Wyeth purchased it, he collects 1/6 scale]

Yeah, it's a tiny gift shop my mother and I have in the summer. We both have always loved crafts, so we finally decided to sell them. It helps finance our craft addiction, as well as giving us something to help pay the bills.

Jamie Wyeth actually lives very close to us by water. My niece was with one of the Olsen's for quite a few years. (Christina's World). Christina was buried right next to their house, and so was Andrew Wyeth. The family cemetery and the field in Christina's World are really private property, only the house is open to the public, but she got a kick out of the fact that every time she looked out the window, someone was crawling up the field toward the house, while someone else took their picture. I guess it happened several times a day as long as there wasn't snow!
