rooftiles617.jpg

I took this photo just before I came home tonight. I am trying so hard to do a good job cutting and laying these tiles, but they just aren't coming out as good as I would like them to be. I'm hoping filling in gaps with black Fimo isn't going to be in my future, but I'm afraid it will be. At the moment, I am using an X-Acto saw to cut the tiles. The first blade is getting pretty dull, so I may have to send for a few new blades. I think the roof is going to take a very long time, since there will be so much cutting and fitting!

Thanks Michele, actually it looks much straighter in the photograph than it does in real life. My "valleys" in the roof didn't match up very well, and the tiles going up the inner part of the left side are higher closer to the edge than they are in toward the main roof.

I worked on them for so long, but there is only so much you can do before you finally give up and say, "I'll just have to add black Fimo if it shows when I add the roof decorations and things".

Yeah, they are tedious, and these, I think, are made with resin, so they are really hard to cut. They feel like those fancy cast resin trims and things you can buy that are white, only these are black. It is just as hard to cut these as it is the white ones.
