New kitchen counters.jpeg
This kitchen came ready made (it's this set: http://www.thelittledollhousecompany.com/dollhouses-miniatures-furniture-kits/kitchens-c-12_210/kitchen-set-with-refrigerator-p-5252). All the pieces were separate and modular, but there was a countertop which only worked in one layout (the one shown in the picture there). My layout is different so I needed to build a new counter out of basswood. I've topped it with a formica countertop made from a 5x7 formica sample ordered (for free!) from formica.com. The sample gave me just enough material to cover the counters, though i needed to be a little creative in how I cut it. I found scoring on both sides with a craft knife and then snapping towards the "good" side worked well. It's really hard to cut a thin strip this way though -- I really struggled with the strips surrounding the sink.
