Here's the "slate" floor after grouting with spackle, which i piped down in to the cracks via a hole in a corner of a sandwich bag (just like i ice my christmas cookies!). I didn't love the bright white of the spackle so I went over it with a watery dark grey paint. the grey paint on the spackle has been prone to scuffs so I think I'll need to go over it again and then seal it with something.
