madhatter
Hi, I know that there has been alot of talk about extending the beacon hill lately. I have put one on mine but im going to have to re-do it because i find it still is not secure enough. What i would like to find out is how everyone who has put an extension on did it, especialy at the base. How did you attach it to the main part of the building and such, so that when you pick up the house they are both securly attached. Does that make sence? jenn
IAK
There's some pictures in my blog if you want to check them out. Mine feels secure!
Guyz_Gurl
I don't know if it is going to help, but I glued a piece of scrap at the end of the existing foundation in prep for the wood I'm waiting for. Don't know what to do about the roof and front wall, though. Michelle oops...should have checked the pics mentioned earlier. Sorry! chattycathy66
I only extended mine by 2 inches, so it's pretty stable. I just added a scrap piece of wood, glued to the underside of the house and the extension...hope that makes sense. I am going to add foundation when I get to that part in the instructions, and I will probably add some extra pieces of wood on the undersides to keep them together.... I am also adding the conservatory to the parlor side, but that will not be permanently attached to the house, so it will have it's own foundation....I'm going to add pictures to my gallery later tonite. havanaholly
When I extend the Willowcrest I think that's how I'll do the floor, add the extra for the floor and glue a 2" wide strip the length of the join beneath the "seam".
