Khadi
Like many builders, I have cats that make it difficult to fully decorate my dollhouses. So, when I saw this cabinet, it seemed like the perfect solution. Originally, I thought I would use it just to display furniture and items not currently being used in my houses, but now I'm leaning more towards making room boxes out of the shelves using cardboard covered in wallpaper for backdrops. Pardon the image quality. I have a hard time finding a resolution that looks good on this forum. Edited August 6, 2023 by Khadi

I if I find such a cabinet I think I will do this too! Right now all my odds and ends are stored in a basket in my workroom to keep them safe from my cat's critque! When you finish putting up walls for the rooms, please re-post.
havanaholly
Check thrift stores for usable furniture. I would think lawyers' bookcases would make terrific settings for room boxes and would definitely keep the fur babies at bay.

It was also easy to build.
Wendigo
If you're okay with a more modern look and you want to be able to see display items from all angles, Ikea makes several affordable glass and acrylic display cases with similar dimensions to the one you posted. They're typically used by doll and action figure collectors, but they can absolutely be used for miniatures as well. If you want something large enough to accommodate a whole dollhouse, you can custom order or even make a case yourself. It looks like your furniture is 1:12, so you could also try Greenleaf's own McKinley kit, which you can mount to the wall (out of reach of your pets). Medieval
Thanks @Khadi! When I get time I like going to yard sales for mini kits. It's a slow process, but I enjoy it. I'm going to keep my eyes open for the perfect cabinet. Also it would be no rush because of all the other houses I have waiting for me!
Bluestocking
Cupboard or cabinet houses were quite popular in the 17th and 18th centuries. I wouldn't be surprised if many playhouses (I mean ones for playing with, not the higher-end show houses) started out as small cupboards! https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/special-auction-services/catalogue-id-srspe10235/lot-4193db7c-c7df-4cfa-b363-a82600ef1f0e https://www.christies.com/lot/lot-a-six-room-dolls-house-the-cupboard-early-5169348/? https://www.liveauctioneers.com/price-result/18th-century-english-cabinet-dolls-house/ https://www.theriaults.com/19th-century-richly-furnished-cabinet-house I would love to find one of those lawyer's bookcases, too. I've got dibs on my mom's curved-front glass cabinet for just such a project ...!
