hubfd
Hello I'm renovating a beacon hill in french style. I'm searching a 'new' name for my home. Something like ... Manor, .....Hall, ... Park... Any suggestions?
havanaholly
Wait until more of the house gets done and let it tell you what name it wants.
LeeB
Since it is a French style, why not use a French word, such as Maison or Chateau - along with another word that could be a place or family name or a descriptive adjective?
Khadi
I vote for chateau. Have you watched Escape to the Chateau or Chateau DIY on Peacock? I think they may also be on HGTV. Both shows are about people renovating old French chateaus. They are great for inspiration.
havanaholly
Huberine, finish the house the way you've begun and you could name it Belle Voir.
hubfd
Maybe I should go for Chateau... indeed. I just really like the way of living in England in the 19th century, so I imagined my house build in England. But it's just because I don't know anything about living in French that time. Probably it's quite similar... And I've always loved French chateaus!

rodentraiser
I'll pop in if I think of a good name, but don't expect miracles from me. I named the cat I'm adopting Pita. Because she is. You know what, a trip to the library to check out a French dictionary might give you some good ideas. And I always wanted to have my kennel name as du Flambeau. And if you wanted to use that name, I wouldn't mind a bit. I was just informed you were French, so excuse my stupidity about the dictionary. This is what happens when I don't get my 2nd breakfast or elevenses. Or my old person nap. Is it du Flambeau or de la Flambeau? I live in Belgium where we have two parts, one part speaking dutch and one part speaking french, and I speak dutch... So the dictionary was actually a good idea 😉. But as far as my french knowledge goes, I do can tell you that it is du flambeau haha
havanaholly
Aha, my bad, your name looked tres francaise a moi, and I assumed. If all else fails, there's always Belle Chose.

The more I look to it, the more I'm sure it will definitely be a 'chateau'!. I even came up this week with the idea I want to expand my 'chateau'. So now I'm searching for a second beacon hill. I want to expand it with a right side (looking from the front), so that it's not only one slice of the house, but it's an L shape
rodentraiser
That sounds like a huge undertaking. I can't wait to see it finished.
