Caseymini
Debra, couldn't you just take off the shine with a light sanding? You can use cut up emery boards to get in tight places.
More Minis Dollhouses
So far I've been able to paint brass fixtures with acrylic paint and its worked. Nothing has flaked off. Maybe a different brand would work? There are some acrylics which are designed to be used on metal. Sanding the brass is a good idea. I'm actually going to encounter this problem soon since I want to paint all of my brass sconces with brass metallic paint. That way they keep their brass color but I can eliminate the shine. I really don't like that shiny look either!
Debra from Olde Cape Cod
Painted chrysnbon furniture is a little fragile in the paint dept.even with a light spray of primer beforehand, but will still be looking for a decent brush on matte finish. Naninni
Thank you all for your helpful tips...I tried Debra's tip of "matte" Wet & Wild Nail Polish...it worked beautifully! "Brushed" brass is much better than the god-awful super shiney finish. Best part, no sanding those tiny little fixtures ....and, it sticks, no flaking so far. Also went one step further on a fixture for my future build, "Longbranch Saloon", using Brae's tip of dry brushing dark brown paint...did this once matte nailpolish had dried...worked like a charm, very vintage. so glad I found this forum..
